Once it gets to production, I'd buy one, as long as it has that "newest" grill - no 06+ nose! 330-ish hp would be nice too, as would a curb weight of about 2500lbs

Looks like somebody is trying to get back into rally form.
Correct me if I'm wrong but over the past 5 years hasn't Subaru always been the biggest car in the WRC? Especially going against the Pugeots, Citroens and now even the Fords? Seems they're thinking going to a smaller form factor would make them a little more competitive.
Car looks like my old Honda Civic Si....
I just went downstairs and gave my bugeye a great big hug.

It seems the only somewhat mainstream companies to get styling "right" these days are Audi and Porsche. Audi is actually innovating design while keeping things looking decent. Porsche is just sticking to what works for them with classic and clean lines and it's working very, very well for them--997 in particular. I would still never get an Audi that is designed to be FWD before RWD (i.e. A4 with engine placement above front axle), and Porsches are just too expensive... Everyone else is just blah, or just downright hideous. Also, I think that Mazda's styling department is still doing pretty good as I like a lot of what they're designing. However, I can't really comment on their future styling.

With Mitsu replacing the Lancer with the Colt, the new Impreza being a hatch was inevitable.
