so lately i've noticed a "squeaking" or "squealing" sound coming from my engine through hard acceleration (almost redlining it). previously i heard a mild, almost a whistling sound come from my engine whenever i would be lightly boosting but now it seams a little more pronounced. my car's engine is completely stock and i've been running a n1 catback for the past ~10k mi.

any opinions on what it might be?

 

the infamous turbo death whine? probably not though. post a video of it.

 

could also just be a hose that popped lose, which would be boost leak that you're hearing.

i kinda of have the same problem as well... my suspension makes a squeaking sound too; i think it is the endlinks, they are wore out.

check your turbo inlet.

when you say lightly boosted, how much boost? my sti (and all turbo subys i have owned) will have that turbo whistle when you are on-gas and just about on boost. if it is that noise, but more pronounced, possibly your inlet has torn and is exposing the turbo inlet.

Could just be a leak. I don't think an entire hose is disconnected. (has happened to me) That will cause a huge drop in boost and a very loud air blowing/sucking sound. Very obvious.

As for my car right now, I have so many squeaks and rattles, it's ridiculous, but its no doubt all the suspension components i'm running.
