Help seperating Engine from tranny

It's a little hard to parse this thread.

What year Subaru is this in?

My STi uses a dowel to hold the fork on place, if that dowel isn't pulled out, and the fork isn't loose, the transmission isn't coming out. Not sure if it's the same for WRX's though.

Is the transmission being pulled out straight? Do you have a consistent gap on all side of the bell housing?
