I love driving my cars, though they always have low miles I don't get out much lol. Atm I'm in the break-in period and can't wait for it to be over. My new car though is so much more fun in the break in period than my suby was broken in lol. Right now gonna have to try and be good and not a heavy foot cus my gas goes fast having a v8 haha. How people treat their cars is their business. Only thing I care about when it comes to how you drive your car is A) are you driving like a asshat or B) are you drinking and driving. Anything else is their own business and who am I to tell them how to or not to drive their car.
I drive like grandma around town, go somewhat close to wot on onramps and hills, and want to play in the mud but never have. I don't think I would ever drive a car with much less performance because I know how much it sucks to drive over the Altamont or the dublin grade in a mini cooper while its windy. I also know other cars now just feel kinda slopy when I drive them and I don't like it. Its just nice to know that giving it a bit more gas I can definitely make that yellow or that left turn at 25-30 rather than 15mph.

I can relate to this haha. I always tell myself Im not gonna WOT for an entire tank. It never works out haha.
I was having this discussion with someone else and we were both shaking our heads when it comes to how people baby their subarus. There are a ton of you out there that get 5k-10k worth of expensive mods on your cars but you always drive under the speed limit and never track your car.
Whats the point of modding a car only to baby it till you sell it? Same goes with guys that are now selling their 06+ STIs with very low mileage and claim the cars have never been boosted hard.

For me, before I could drive my pops had me working on cars and tearing down engines/transmissions and rear ends. I was working on old Subies at age 10 with my pops. Up until a few years ago, every single thing that I broke - I had to pay for and/or fix myself. I saw a drastic difference in my cars, the way I drove and how much crap broke between myself and my friends who were all on Mommy Sponsorship Programs. It makes a HUGE HUGE difference to have to pay for and maintain your vehicles yourself, and the encouragement to destroy them for "fun" goes away.
I cringe when someone does a clutch dump because there is zero reason for doing such a thing, and it's slamming your drivetrain into itself. You do not have to abuse a car to go fast. In fact, the smoother you are with control inputs, shifts, etc - the faster you will be and the longer your car will last.
My daily driver gets wrung out inches from it's life every day, gets taken to or just past redline nearly every time I drive it. It's a cheap car that is fun to drive and not expensive to replace. I drive it knowing full well that I may need to rebuild my engine and it doesn't bother me. There's times when an inside tire will spin because of chassis load, but the thought of dumping the clutch in the car is silly - what would the point be?
My new car though, I put 10k miles on it before I really exceeded speed limits, spun the tires or anything like that. I do that for myself and could give half a crap what someone else thinks about that. I also said "NO" to the 37 people who found out I got it and wanted me to let them drive it/do a burnout/abuse it in general. I am not sure where that gets fun since I am paying the bills.
Anyway, it makes 100% sure that I am very familiar with the car before doing anything stupid. Compare myself to my friend that drifted into a Jeep within 500 miles of owning his first RWD car to myself who can comfortably handle the car in just about any situation, and am looking forward to getting it onto a race track.
I should also mention that everyone is entitled to my opinion.

I bought my '05 GTO new in '07. It was my first new car and I worked hard to buy it. Then some drunk bastard ran his Tacoma over the hood of it. So while it was getting fixed I decided to get a beater. I had a few crappy beaters that I bought broken, fixed, then sold for some extra cash. I bought the saabaru with a blown engine and intended to do the same. Did an sti swap on the cheap and fell in love with how it drives in the city.
Since I bought my GTO new in 07 I've put 15k on it to date. I keep it in my parent's garage, which is across town. Being across town makes it hard to get to it when I feel like grabbing it. People say I should sell it, but it's the first new car I've bought and I like it.
The GTO is a different animal than the Saabaru. The Saab is great around town, fast in tight spaces, easy to park, and the gear ratios make it really fun in town. The GTO is a great distance car, quiet, fast, comfortable, better on gas than the saab.
They're two different vehicles, that excel at two different things. One gets used more often than the other, but I don't baby either one.
