Cal,
Buy the EVO, it is sexier, faster, and handles better. If you need a hook-up, I have a dude on So-cal that has told me that he will sell me an evo for $500 under MSRP. That is the best CA deal that I could find.

STi is OK, but it has bad factory tuning, and it handles like a pig.

You CAN NOT go wrong with the EVO. You can run 12 flat on 2 grand worth of mods.

Evo rocks.!.!.!

My next car is next years Evolution.

Penises are cool. I've got one... do you?

Speed isn't everything. Not even close.

Style is enduring. (See GC8) and will never get you a ticket.
Speed can be manufactured and will definitely get you a ticket, just a matter of time.

I'd say the STi. 6-speed, Center diff control. Bigger, motor.

The down side is poor steering rack (so I've heard), and ok to poor suspension.

EVO is cool for the FMIC, and better steering response. Altezza'a are sweet too. LOL.

But it's up to you. In the end I won't be the one driving your car every day. That person is you. So yea.

Cal just get yourself another GVR4 as a project car and a used 97 M3 for daily.

get the evo

hey cal

haha. just as i thought. you cant decide.

i am stil leaning toward the EVO. you will be very disappointed in the STi handling. the GC8 handles (personally) light years better than the wrx. and the EVO handles better than the GC8. engine mods are fairly cheap and reap HUGE rewards. i havent seen the same tunability out of the STi yet.

bottom line, the EVO has more potntial. that to me speaks volumes. i plan on an STi or EVO or ??(the next cool AWD super compact) in a year (grantd i have a job by then). between the two, i have my sites set on the EVO.

RX8 250HP/159lb-ft -- that is not alot of torque...

This paragraph is from the artilce between the RX8, G35coupe, and Mustang Cobra(what a GREAT comparison )

With the help of an 8000-rpm clutch drop and the engine buzzing like a flock of angry hornets, the RX-8 scooted to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 14.5 seconds at 96 mph. But that performance falls off considerably without a tire-frying launch. In our street-start test from 5 to 60 mph, the RX-8 needed 7.5 seconds—1.6 seconds longer than the hard-launch time, which is twice the deficit we found with either of the other cars. And despite its trim weight and short gearing (20 mph per 1000 rpm in sixth), the RX-8 also had the slowest top-gear acceleration times by a wide margin.

You can see that you need to beat the **** out of the thing to get it moving, especially at launch(7.5 sec to 60 from 5mph)

And HP/torque doesnt just mean speed. It means acceleration, and that is alot of how (un)enjoyable a car is to drive. Especially when you are toting more than yourself around.

They're all *** ugly. The '04s are *** ugly, EVO, STi whatever.

Save up for a year. You'll have a HUGE down payment and more to choose from.
