I don't get this. If you don't have enough $$s, why risk modifying the car, voiding the warranty etc?

modifying my car has nothing to do with having a bad synchro k?

And warranty expired 10,000 miles ago for me.

If you're just going to die in the end, why bother living in the first place?

Dont really get why you added that last line.
Theres a 60k mile drivetrain warranty. You got 70k miles?

i added the last part in sarcasm to the "why mod your car" comment.

and I meant modding it after the regular warranty expired.

also, since the powertrain is under warranty, does that only mean the parts are free? not labor?

I did not say that mods broke you car. From what I have read, it sounds like your car is stock and this is the regular POS tranny problem.

All I was suggesting is that if you are short on cash, leave it stock - particularly given that it already has problems. It makes warranty claims a lot easier.

It just bugs me how many people have got money to mod the car, but not to fix it when it breaks.

i guess everyone doesn't always have large amounts of money at hand 24/7. I don't see how it bugs you. I'm sure you might have some of your own problems to attend to before worrying about others.

The tranny was supposedly my fault so I'm paying for the labor of taking it off... inpecting it... then the new part... then putting it all back. Supposedly the labor for the clutch is free. I could tell though that the mechanic was trying to make it cost more cause the service consultant was explaining to him how its not suppose to cost that much since the clutch was under warranty and so is the labor for it.

The mechanic also said he has a friend with a WRX that has Twin Turbo from HKS. Just thought i'd mention it.

You know it only takes 20 mins to put the clutch in with the tranny out right? so you paying for the tranny removal and so on IS paying labor on the clutch.

Sorry to say mate your getting ****ed.

well i took my car to a dealership in socal since i'm at school here. Turns out my 1st and 4th gear synchro are bad. Mods didn't matter here, and everything will be replaced under warranty.
