I'd say do the STi engine/transmission/brake/interior transplant minus the cage. Also try to keep this car legal. You will still need this car for daily driving, and you don't want to have headaches from the law enforcements. If you keep things stock, the car will be very reliable for a very long time, while it is still a blast to drive.

Yeah, I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but with only your RS and the Exploder, you'd probably be better off getting another car, seeing as how you're so attached to your RS. If you were to complete that swap, you'd likely be driving it more often, which means more opportunities for something bad to happen...

Put a little money into the RS now, put some away for later (everyone can always use a little more hidden away for later) and put some down on a healthy, reliable DD. You'll be happy later you didn't blow it all at once.

Just my thoughts.

well, you could always get a $18k hooker.

Or 18k $1 hookers.

I can't believe nobodies posted that yet.

I'll have to agree with Noah and mike, that money would be better spent or saved elsewhere, or maybe WRX swap and save the rest? WRX converted RS's are mean.

Initially, I voted for RSTI becaue RS has history with you. Can't replace that. It may be worthy to you. But is it right time for you? Sounds like you are not 100% healthy yet and not too sure about employment status. May be not a good time for you.

I would say save that money. Once you are back to 100% and have reliable DD, then, go for it.

i voted for sell the rs and get some new ish...i like the idea of an RSTI but project cars have no value and ultimately your only hope to retain some of your moneys value, is to get something newer...once that $$ goes into the project, its gone...the chance of finding someone that wants that car later for top dollar is very low.

sorry to hear about all the bad luck bro...good luck with whatever you decide

why don't you take that $18,000 and try to build on it for the next 12-24 months and put a down payment on a house? The market is in shambles right now and if you have money to invest the next couple years are the time to do it.

just a thought.

otherwise I say go for it. buy that cossy block from mike and go for it.

I bet you and you wife would like a vacation somewhere nice. Just my $.02.
Take care.

actually, based on his rent for his nice townhome (do you own already?), this might just work out nicely for Daniel and Josipa.

18k is more then enough for a down on a home right now.

Yeah but I don't think the housing market is done dropping.

If he owns already then he can put a down on a house. Move in to it and pay for one of the morgages by renting out the townhome. Then sell when the market rebounds. Just a though.

I'm with ya on that one huckster. I was debating whether or not to have Adam do a conversion for me and have 2 swaps by the guy or not....I added it up and a few bigs extra to cover the oh snaps moments and it's about the same for an 04-06 STi so I'll be getting the STi and go with a newer platform
I actually want your bug eye
