Guys, I have a very CRAZY idea and I need you guys to back me up...

I have a check for almost $18,000 from insurance, right now I'm immobile and in no need of transport because I'm on leave from everything to focus on my health.

Since I totaled my WRX, I need a new car. Right now I have a beat up 2000 2.5RS coupe with some body damage (nothing that can't be repaired easily), and my wife's ford exploder, so we have two cars... I've kept the RS around because it has been an icon in my life, so many memories, events, its the car that started everything, and I can't just go and sell it to some kid for almost nothing... The RS needs work even though it has a new tranny and engine, everything else needs love since that car has been to hell and back.

Proposition:

F'* buying a brand new evo or STi and spending money on top of my already 18k, instead, why not convert my RS into the beast I've always wanted it to be? For starters:

1. STi Drive train (Engine and Transmission)
2. Suspension re-do (something rough)
3. weld in roll cage (chassis flex)
4. Big brakes
5. Paint job = Flat black, satin black, white?

Think I can do a REALLY good job with 18k?

What would YOU do in my shoes?

I think you should do it!! 18k is a lot of money to play with and it sounds like a great idea. Besides, this isn't your first time with a subaru so working on it may not be that big of a hassle. Maybe try and price out everything you want to do to the car and see what type of numbers you are looking at. Just my .02

I have an idea that LIC and GST are going to get a lot of business.

Hey man,

I saw on Craigslist a totalled 07 sti for about $6500 that you can pull the engine, tranny, brakes from.

your RS is auto right? if you really want to mod the RS, sell it get a shell and go from there... I love the GM6 body but I just don't see myself spending truck load on that car anymore... now if I have sht load of money sitting around, sure. Otherwise I would get a new car instead...

Wow you still have the RS? I haven't seen that car in AGES! Last I remember the tranny blew the same time I did on my 2nd time. Lots of history on that car. Go waaaayyyyyyy back.

I vote getting STI drivetrain and donating your rs one to me for backup

Are you in the east bay any time? I'd LOVE to get a ride in your car to get a feel for it.

doesn't matter if it's an auto or not, all parts swap right in.
