I actually want your bug eye
Make me an offer. I've been looking for an excuse to buy an 08 STi.

I'm also glad you all chimed in with words of wisdom especially from the experts, imagine how it feels to have $18k dangled in front of your face that you can just play with? having a crazy RS with cage has always been my dream, the cage would be custom and avoid my head since Im so tall, just want it to stiffen up the chassis and it'd be padded... but like you said, it's just not practical now... I have savings saved up from years of software work and stocks wish I save for food and rent which makes that 18k even more tempting to throw into the RS.

I've pretty much abandoned Subaru at this point and and jumping ship to an EVO unless I can find a KICK *** STi for a reasonable price... but I'm an EVO guy deep down.

That would be a dope project! It looks as though the STI for $6500 would do it too, Looks to be no damage to the engine bay, But look at it close up. I would do it Bruce ;0) Keep us posted.

new car.

the investment is not worth it IMO. You could actually have a nice car by selling the RS (to me for cheap i swear no hidden agenda with my post) and combining the money and get something that is nice.

the RSti would be dope but i can see you regretting the purchase later on. especially since you probably won't see half the investment come back to you if you did decide to sell it in the future.

Dude this sounds like one of the best ideas you've ever had

keep the rs and swap that ****! for 18k that thing can be a ****ing beast dude! I wish i had 18k to play around with, you can basically make that into the car of your dreams

would you do the work yourself???

also, i added to your list

1. STi Drive train (Engine and Transmission)
2. Suspension re-do (something rough)
3. weld in roll cage (chassis flex)
4. Big brakes
5. Paint job = white
6. Wide Body Kit
7. (the obvious) Awesome interior setup (dash swap?)

I hate this argument, it basically says if you wanna throw money down the drain on "new" or be unique and have something hardly anyone else does.

I guess I was generalizing the situation for myself. I guess I could do either one but I don't have the time to have a car be at the shop to get swapped when I'd need a car fairly sooner, I don't know if I'm going to live state side or overseas yet and won't for a few months (I'm leaving for the military), swaps are becomming a dime a dozen now, I've had 2 RS's, and I just finally want something a bit newer and a fairly more recent body style.
