If these people got "scared" of people threatening them, they wouldn't be trying to scam people. The best way to deal with them is to ignore them completely and forward their info to the authorities as many have already said.

There was a guy pretending to be an IRS agent who kept calling my parents house over and over and leaving messages on the answering machine. Mom reported it to the police and they didn't do anything about it. Finally about a month later she got sick and tired of it and told him that she worked for the San Jose police department and to pepper his angus because they were coming for him. That was the last they heard from that guy.

These guys are all ****ing scum. They need to be rounded up in a room and set on fire. Had my parents been older/illiterate, they might have fell for the scam like a couple of other families did that they know of.

I had some collection company calling my number for FOUR YEARS about a debt for some chick who didn't even have a name like anyone in my house. After talking to managers, owners, there and telling them I would file BBB, FCC, and harassment complaints they kept calling. I finally disconnected the effing number.

OMG, you were actually an honest and upstanding CL seller? Most people would keep the money, and tell i-club how they got one over on the scammer. Of course they'd be out a set of tires, but most would have told this scammer, "Tough luck, you were stupid enough to write the check, your loss.".

Same thing happened to my sister. She was advertising a room for rent, some guy said the company had a check for a certain amount didn't want to waste it. Actually was a cashiers check, deposited and 12 days later was returned. She waited the 10 days just in case, but still she got had. Lost $1000.00.
