Craigslist scam? I think so.

I'm selling my Nikon F5 on craigslist and I got an email from a guy interested. I told him he could come and check it out and this is what he sent me.

Thanks for the reply, i'm willing to buy the item since it is in a
good working condition.I'm Currently out of the State and won't be
available for pick up. I actually want to buy the item as a Birthday
gift for my Cousin in west Africa of the confirmed address that will be
sent to you by PayPal. My mode of payment will be cash through PayPal
in US dollars and i am willing to offer you $580the item including
shipping and handling expenses to him through through (USPS Postal Service)
International Mail service. I want you to send to me your PayPal
email id, so that immediate payment can be done,PayPal is very secure
and reliable.
Get back to me with your PayPal email ID if you are still interested

Thanks
West Africa? Really?

Scam or what?

I got one saying the guy worked on a off-shore boat and he wanted to buy the "item" as a gift for his son. Even when I responded he never called the "item" a bicycle (that's what I was selling) so I never sent him my paypal account info.

Just ignore it. Best thing to do is deal with people local.

It's pretty clear when some guy offers you double your asking price it's a scam.

Didn't realize west africa had cell towers or internet, though they still had to drink water from crap filled screams and lived in adobe houses.....

Wow people are retarded to fall for that ****. I just hit the 'spam' button or reply with the most rude thing I can come up with when I get those emails.

you should not even reply to these emails as they will farm your email address and soon enough you will start receiving A BUNCH of random ***** enlargement emails.

HAHAHA! ask me how i know.

bottom line, if you cant meet the buyer in person and is asked to ship = scam.
