Would I be able to fit a 255/40/18 tire onto a 18x8 wheel without any issues? I'm not looking for the flush look; I prefer meatier looking profile. This is on the gr chassis, slightly lowered. Currently I have the tires mounted on the OE 18x8.5. thanks! is this mostly a cosmetic difference between the two? how about handling?

No, 255s will require 8.5" wheels, and even then it's more ideally suited to 9". The largest you can fit on an 8" wheels is 245s.

Yeah I was going to till I saw the bulge. It's doable with a taller sidewall by not recommended.

I thought it can vary by tire manufacturer? Identical spec tires can end up slightly different in real life...IIRC the old Falcon Azzenis 615s ran narrow and I could fit 255 on 8 without any cupping, but the Dunlop Star Specs were the opposite, 245 looked and fit like a 255...if that makes any sense

regardless you should be running at 255/35/18 if you are looking at 255s. the 255/40 is too tall, the 255/35 better matches stock profile.

Im using 255/40/18 MPSS now on the bbs wheels. Feels great, to be frank with you, and not so harsh.

anyway, the main issue here is that i might be purchasing some wheels. I'm lowered on RCE yellow/Bilstein suspension, about a 1/2 inch drop. i do not want to roll fenders if avoidable. I'm looking at 18x8.5 (which obviously won't need a roll) and x9, (which might need a roll). the offset on the stockers are 50 i think, but most of the wheels I'm looking at are around 35-45 offset, which means it will stick out further, which may entail a roll.

i suck with wheel knowledge lol
