? For you wheel gurus!

I have the opportunity to get a set of rota in 18x9.5. I see that I will need spacers for front to clear Brembos. 5 mm is correct? Do I also need spacer for rear? I'm also planning on slapping my 255/40 series tires. Am I going to run into any issues? This is for a slightly lowered 2012 GR.

thanks guys!

What Rotas? The need for a spacer depends on the wheel and offset. If they are Grids, then yes you need a 5mm spacer up front.

255/40 is a little tall, but should be ok. Typically you would see a 255/35.

I know of someone with a GR hatch running 18x9.5 DPTs (+48 i think) that fit with no issues and no spacers. He is running 275/35/18 tires and is lowered on swift springs.

you dont need to run any spacers for the rear for any wheel, You will need extended lugs for anything more than a 3mm spacer. Since the OEM tire size is 245/40/18 the 265/35/18 is a better fit as it is more close to the stock dimensions. You will want to roll the rear fenders and you should be good.

*Shameless plug you can get a set of barely used 18x10 rpf1s with 265/35/18 tires and a set of spacers for 1500 from me

So they are rota grid 18x9.5 5x114.3.

Where can I purchase spacers locally? Sj/Bay Area.

I have to install extended wheel bolts to make this work? I did not know that. Is this part absolutely necessary?

I normally don't pay much attention to wheels so thanks for answering all these noob questions.

if you are running anything 3mm+ you need to run the extended lugs, otherwise you wont get enough rotations when tightening your lug nuts.

i bought mine there, they are hub and wheel centric

I see. But I see some people on another thread saying the lugs were not necessary. I guess this is where I'm confused.

There seems to be alittle confusion, someone mentioned that when wheel spacers are used that extended lugs should be used...

Should have said when wheelspacers are used, the wheel studs should be extended, and usually will have to use open ended lug nuts to fit the longer studs- extended lug nuts are not a thing

You shouldn't use stock lug nuts for aftermarket wheels
