Laptop Gurus, Help me! (and I'll owe you beer someday)

I'm looking @:

http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/showth...threadid=39263

2. A thinkpad X20, I'd love a lightweight!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=48487
, but I dunno if the extra 256 ram and 40 gig HD is worth the extra moey compared to

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=48487

So, here's the deal. I could spend up to 600, but I'd RATHER spend less.

Any recommendations?
Give me a recommendation please for each category

1. Ultra cheap, old laptop that's at least a PIII and has decent RAM and has a network card

2. Ultra light, like the X20 (but they have like 2 hours of battery, are they worth it?)

3. Best bang for the buck
a. a laptop with some graphics capabilities so I can play some video games (not like Doom III or HL2, no way!)

O yeah, when is GT4, Halo 2, Doom III, and HL2 coming out for you other computer geeks out there... I played the Doom III ALPHA...OMG it's soooooo freaky! The lighting and sound effects are seriously out of a horror movie, and so well done, it's was too graphics intensive for my roomates's Geforce 4 Ti, 1 gib RAM, 2.4 ghz computer!

Well, Ok, I COULD spend 3000 if I wanted to, but that would mean no UTEC and no TMIC, you get the point....

I use a really old Pentium I Toshiba Sattelite laptop. It couldn't cost more than $60 at the most. I use that to tune my UTEC day in and day out. You don't need anything powerful to tune with. Just something that runs Hyperterminal, and very minimal space to save logs and maps and such.

I have also seen IBM thinkpad's on Ebay for about $125-150.
