Under the 2nd amendment, the courts have defined "ammo" as "arms". Now they can ban specific ammo (example CA bans incendiary rounds due to fire hazards) but they can't blanket ban ammo.

As to the ammo tracking, I doubt any state will pass it for one reason. They can't afford the costs of the tracking system and people.

um, its STATES THAT ARE DOING THIS!! NOT the federal government, so why aren't we talking about those governors and legislatures... Oh, thats right y'all just don't like democrats... ISN'T THIS SITE ABOUT CARS FOR CHRISTS SAKES!!!! Go to paranoidradicalgunpeople.com I don't hear anyone freaking out about the tax hike for tobacco products in California, and they are going to do it for alcohol too, Why do you gun fanatics go so ape **** over any common sense regulations... Fully automatic weapons are for killin human beings don't you get that??? They should be regulated a little bit shouldn't they??

And before you go all ape ***, I really like shooting guns, shotguns, rifles, handguns, and I am really waiting to shoot a fully auto, but damn, If I bought an AK I SHOULD BE ON A LIST. And no revoulution can be won with guns. The second you shoot somebody it gives the government full right to decimate you. Revolutions must not use the tactics of the government they are trying to overthrow. This ain't 1776 anymore.

2)Paragraphs, try them.
3)The reason we get our rights taken away is children like you who have little to no grasp on what the 2nd amendment is about.

If California passes this, I don't want to hear a damn thing about the state not having sufficient funds for anything. This would cost a butt load which I'm sure California doesn't have lying around.

I have a lot of ammo stored up, but I never dip into my stockpile so it hurts every time I go shooting.

I wish I had money for about 20,000 rounds of various ammo, then I'd be set. (double my stockpile)

Oh, and every day I get closer and closer to moving out of this ****ty POS state. It's beautiful as hell, but the laws make it like the Soviet Union, so F' that.

Beauty isn't everything. Flagstaff Arizona here I come!

I love it when people try to justify IRL status over the interwebs. Honestly, why stop at poking people about their jobs? Take the direct approach and just call everyone nerds. You can even go the extra mile and include statements about the condition of their skin, weight, sexual orientation, or size of reproductive organ or lack there of.

On topic: It's poorly written but the horse guy has a point. This is state legislature and while Obama may support it, I doubt he initiated the movement. I'm fairly certain this could have come up even with a more gun friendly President in office. These may be stupid questions but, is the resistance to this bill coming an economic factor and the tax involved or is it coming from the lack of anonymity?

If the issue is the later it sounds like the Government is trying to keep tabs on how much ammunition a person has. It may be me but the information seems rather trivial, especially to those who use their guns for hunting or shooting on a range.
