Good LCD TV (Gagan get in here!)
My fiance's parents are looking to buy a 37"-42" LCD tv, they want to spend as little as possible and aren't too worried about brand as long as it is decent.
Only thing they seem to care is that it is 1080p and has a good selection of inputs.
I think they'd like to keep it around $600 if possible.. I know that is crazy but I've seen them before. So if anyone knows of any good deals on 37-42" lcd tv's please post here!

Samsungs that are 6xx or 7xx series are good. Regzas if they 2009 sets are good.
All Sonys are good. All the vizios from 2007 that are 1080p good.
These sets don't have macroblocking issues, don't have banding, don't have moire effects, aren't going to have image retention and aren't going to having ghosting on moving objects.
I'll take quick look around and post back.
You have a few options, but don't ever sacrifice some decency in quality vs. price.

hey hey hey now. ive had sharp tvs that lasted a long time plus i own a 46" sharp lcd that i bought for a black friday purchase. i woulda preferred the samsung just cuz they seemed more clear, but for the price, the sharp was an excellent buy. sadly not for 600ish haha
That price point is hard to hit...

Wait until tomorrow when Frys releases new ads. They will be good until next week tuesday.

Hmm good point. Yeah they just want me to start looking around for them.
I found a 42" 1080p Vizio for $897 at Walmart and a 37" 720p vizio at walmart for $599..
I remember your post about sharps having the banding issues and i youtubed it and saw what it was and that is very bad for a brand like sharp to even produce. It's sad that a reputable brand would allow that to leave their factories.
I don't want them to get 720p out of principle but then again they won't ever get HD or a bluray player. They just want a bigger, less power using, thinner tv mainly.
