I've got a 8" crack running across AND down my windshield starting in the edge on the drivers side. The wife has been nagging me to drop the cash to get it fixed. But I've decided to roll "Ol' Chinese School". I told my wife, that I'm gonna leave it until the crack reaches the other side and a piece of the windshield falls into the passanger compartment. If a piece falls into her side of the car.... I'm gonna wait a little longer after that.

BTW, got an online quote from Safelite for about @270 OTD as well for my '02 Wag.

Bad day...

that ain't ****.

I got a ticket for my windshield. Had 48 hours to get it fixed which ment I couldn't really deal shop since I didn't read the 48 part until half way through day 2. So I paid almost $500 to get it fixed. On my way home from the shop someone kicked up a rock and cracked my new windshield.....still had the tape on and ****.

I'd say since you ahve time....look to spend between $175-220.

Yeah, Eff spending more than $200 - $250 on a windshield. I've just had horribly bad experiences with cracked windshields and always wait until it's really undriveable before replacing it because the inevitable always happens. When I picked up my FXT in Aug. I got a rock chip/crack on the way home from the dealership! Bull****, but unavoidable.

Wow, looks like good stuff. I didn't know they have such things (and it's legal) in U.S. Tons of people use this type of windshield film in Asia.

The website is just for the product, wondering who in the Bay Area installs / carries this.

The $270 quotes probably don't include the gasket around the windshield. This part alone is $70. You can do the swap without, but it is recommended to avoid leaks.

I'm on my 4th windshield, prices have ranged between 180 and 240 from what I can recall.
And I am still using little fragments of the original molding- a fair amount on the inner portions have been cut out but as long as enough hi quality goop is used you shouldn't have leakage problems.
