Sorry, but this train of thought is why society has no respect. There are no consequences anymore. Just a sign, just your car stereo, just your wife's heirloom jewelry box. It all starts somewhere small and usually ends up somewhere much bigger. The type of person that runs onto someones lawn, in daylight, with the owner watching probably doesn't exactly have a productive role in society in mind for his or her future.

Maybe I'm just sick of people doing whatever they want to others with no repercussion, or maybe I'm just sick of the emasculation of society that values some leech of society over something someone worked damn hard for....but, I really feel sick when I think about where this country is headed.

i understand what you're saying but i just dont think its justifiable to shoot a kid over a sign. There are other things he could have done that would have given the kids some consequences other then shooting them.

I don't think I would have shot at him either, but not everyone is as level headed. I'm also not a 50 year old man, I'd have zero reservation about confronting a few 15-17 year olds. I don't condemn the guy for doing what he did either, maybe this will serve as the lesson in respect these kids' parents never gave them.

That I agree with you on. As a teacher its obvious the respect factor isn't there with the newer generations, including my own (im 21). Thats were the "I like it, i take it" comes from.

Though I think this was more of a prank that was overreacted on than anything.

Yeah no sure what R-dub is all about but that has been my experience as well. I have friends who are in JW families and most of them talk about the CRAZY HORRIBLE CRAP that goes on internally in addition to things like you mention. When I was a kid on our property out in the boonies, I remember a few occasions of my mom asking the JW's to leave over the double barrels of a 12ga.

You have to question the sanity of someone who would come to your door and basically say "I have no idea who you are or anything about you but I know that my religion is better than yours and you should switch up." I say "sure come on in if you would be willing to convert to Buddhism in the next 30 minutes." Usually works. Some people use guns, some answer the door naked, I dunno. The fact that the come at all is offensive.

My point is - even though Witnesses are annoying, you can't just shoot them for 'being on your property'.

Same goes for Mormons, Lutherans, Solicitors, or whoever else who fits that category.

And slow04WRX: I never said I condoned the behavior of the old man, so I don't know why you are acting like I did.

This is what I said :
Quite right.

Like I said - you run up on someones property acting like that you are asking for trouble.

However, I do not condone the man for actually SHOOTING one of them...thats a little much.

I just don't agree. Frankly saying someone taking a a free political sign leads to jewelery, stereo's etc. is a joke. It's illogical. You are talking about completely unrelated stuff....

the most weakening thing on society I can think of, would be people who are scared of things for no reason and attribute completely unrelated acts that they have no basis for as if they are a certain and absolute.

If guy 1 stole a candy bar, then he must be capiable of raping this woman, and robbing this bank.

I'm just saying thats a huge problem today, people are scared of all this crap certain groups of people might do when there is no evidence to that or logical reasoning, I just don't understand where people think EXTREME violence is needed in an otherwise nonviolent situation..........

and lets also acknowledge the fact the guy put the sign up to get a reaction.................................

don't put a ****ing sign up the rest of the public has to look at if you don't want attention to come from it. It's not rocket science.

Frankly i'd hope some of the responsible gun owners would CHIME in here. Someone is stealing your free sign, you don't try to kill them. If you do that means you should seek MEDICAL HELP IMMEDIATELY.

R dub I think we are on the same page as to the overall feeling, tho it was a good argument

I believe I thought you said "I do condone the man for shooting at them, and I just have poor reading comprehension.

No way. Violence (especially with deadly force) is not condoned in my book unless it falls under very specific situations, mostly if verbal warnings and walking away do not work. The comment about the 12 gauge is only to be taken in the context of:

Someone breaks into my house, they are greeted by my 110lb GSD alarm barking - I then grab the 12 gauge, give a verbal warning of "Get out now, I have a weapon and I will use it." If they are smart they will leave right then and there.

If they charge or brandish a weapon (or in anyway hurt my dog) I unload the duck shot, repeat my command of leaving or I will use deadly force. If they are really that dumb to stick around after that...well, I don't mind cleaning up what will be left of them.

So what the he77 does this have to do with California? The "Left Coast" simply leads the way for the PC nanny state. I love living in California, born and raised here, but there are times that I don't see a long-term future in this state.

As far as home defense goes, my prescription is 230 grains of lead taken at regular intervals of about 800 fps.

Yes, the left coast does lead the way for the PC nanny state. No one seems to want to take responsibility for themselves anymore. At the same time, everyone seems to have this sense of entitlement whereby they stick out their grubby little hands demanding the gov't. give them everything from protection to health care. Ridiculous.

BTW, 124 grains of Gold Dot-ty goodness at 1220fps intervals for me.

What does this have to do with CA? that we don't have such a high percentage of retards amongst the state population.

I didn't relate it to mccain or obama or politics. Just the old man is a ****ing a hole nutcase.

Just to play devil's advocate, in 2007, CA ranked #43 on average ACT scores and #35 in average SAT scores. Ranking in the bottom 1/3 for both tests doesn't exactly give me the impression that CA is filled with a bunch of geniuses.
