The worst place is going to the int'l auto show. I get shocked everytime I touch a different car. I don't go to them anymore because of that
There are some work boots (like the one I have) that are anti-shock, anti-slip. It works pretty good. I only get shocked once in awhile (maybe once a month) vs all the time with other shoes I wear.
I find a good method to use if you're kinda paranoid about being shocked, is to flick the back of your fingernail on the metal object (such as a door ****, car, etc) one or two times. If you're going to get shocked you will feel the shock at your nail, but at the same time, it won't hurt at all. If you feel no shock, it's safe to touch the metal object

Before you exit your car while the door is open, touch/hold on to any metal part of the door/frame. Remember, it has to bee metal. Keep on touching the metal as you exit the car. Let go when you have completely exited the car. By keeping constant contact with the car let all the static electricity flow from you to the grounded car. Works every time.
