I think I'd rather go through the kill zone in Oakland than drive anywhere in east Los Angeles, or most of Salinas. Those have kill zones where people don't care who you are, if you're not in a gang, if you're a family with children in the car, they'll shoot you anyway.

It's crazy how night and day different it is there right. Seriously like 2 miles down high st. and your in a completely different world.

What area do you work in? I'm a case manager in Oakland and def. there are times when I'm on edge in certain neighborhoods - I get plenty looks driving the subie in neighborhoods with abandoned cars and furniture all over the streets.

I See your concerns and honestly we run into people upset about stuff like this all the time
You gotta think of it this way, You and I know who did it, but tell a jury that you dont know his last name, or that you werent 100% sure where they hang out yadayadayada. Im sure there were some outside factors regarding your incident, honestly its straight up frustrating some times.

AS for the street racers, If your talking about sideshow street racing.......... Stolen cars EVERYWHERE, Carjacking Cars EVERYWHERE, Tons of Guns, Drugs, Prostitution OUT OF CONTROL. It does need to be stopped, tons of violence stems from these.
If your talking about the harbor street races.... Lots of stolen cars, lots of stolen parts/engines, lots of guns (One year a double homicide happened on middle harbor road during the street races).
But again, I can see your frustration, and trust me im right there with you.
Ive arrested a kid that was given probation for attempted murder........ Yes attempted murder 664/187. How in the heck do you get probation for that.........................
