Gang Wars Oakland
Here we go again! Shooting suspect at a standoff with police at the SAME apartment that 2 out of the 4 Oakland PD officers died back in March. Happening right now at this very moment. Oakland's brought out SWAT and a big police force to the scene. I think I might have even spotted Eric on the news just now. Flatline, were u there today?

I just got finished watching the entire series on the discovery channel. It was a good documentary of the stuff that happens in Oakland and really opens your eyes to the dangers that lay in our backyard. The killing zone is about 20 mins from my house and it's crazy to think that 80 people have been killed in that 2 square mile area in just the last 2 years!
That's just ridiculous.
One thing I have to say is THANK YOU to flatline, and other officers we have on board here. Flatline, you risk your life every day to ensure that people like us are safe. Thank you so much for doing what you do. You go under appreciated, you're stepped on and treated like crap because you want to ensure that people can live ordinary lives in a safe environment, and I want you to at least know that I appreciate everything you do for us. Without the bravery of people like you we would live in a state of chaos and there would be no peace.
So thank you for your service, bravery, and commitment to keeping us citizens safe from gang bangers and other criminals. I know I'm not alone in thanking you, I'm sure that other i-clubbers feel exactly the same was as I do.
When things get you down and you feel under appreciated and disrespected, always remember that you have people who look up to you for your bravery. Most people I know would run the other way when presented with the sort of danger that you face almost daily, but it takes a different kind of person to run to the danger in order to stop it.
If you're ever around my area I'd really like to buy you a beer and shoot the ****. Actually, I don't know how you'd feel about this, and I don't know if you saw the thread where I was asking for volunteers that I could video tape and interview for a website that I'm creating. I'm studying journalism and have interviewed people of all walks of life, from soldiers to CEOs (Facebook, Posterous, and Adobe). You are def a prime candidate for an interview and I'd be honored to have you as a guest. What do you say? It'll be short and will require about 30 mins of your time, I will provide everything and will send you the questions in advance. Be warned that I may ask some sensitive questions, that's the whole point through... To have interesting questions from interesting people. I know you knew some of the slain officers that were killed last year by that POS gang banging rapist and I'm sure people would love to hear about your true feelings about the situation.
Let me know how you feel about the interview man, it would mean a lot to me and I know a lot of people would love to watch it.

Damn that was ghetto...but unfortunately it doesn't surprise me. I hope that every day of work is a safe one as much as possible Eric. I know you love your job and it shows man cause you're a pure adrenaline junky lol.
You guys should watch a video called the hood. I watched it a few years ago, pretty scary................when you watch it, interviews etc.. from gangsters explaining how it is all over the country. You realize how many big ghettos there are. Doesn't give you a good outlook for the future of our race, lets put it that way. I also saw this oakland thing on tv. It was no where near as alarming as the hood or whatever it's called. They had like 17 year old kids in vallejo w 100 grand cash they hide in their ceiling. If you are 15 and copped a good shotgun/a kilo of heroin you hide in your backyard then you are an achiever. The worst part about it all is a large majority are kids 16 and under who have real weapons and like to shoot things for fun. If you live to be like 25 you are an old man.
I remember that 1 rap song mentioning oakland. "lost the superbowl but we won the homicide rate".
Weird I always feel fairly safe in Oakland. Seems like they are more into killing thugs and other gangsters...........not targeting random people........which seems to be popular in really desperate areas.

I got shot there so I have pretty strong opinions of where I think the city and it's residents are headed...If it all got washed away by a Tsunami I wouldnt miss it...
Of course we'd all like to hear the story or the context of it? Oakland hills is one of the richest areas in the state. Oakland has pretty areas too, its not all bad. I'm not saying bad things don't happen sometimes tho, just that they are more rare than people think.

I know that there's some nice places around the hills, hwy 13, Clairmont, and Rockridge areas and I had great times when I lived there. I also noticed that within the 6 years I lived there I observed the city just take a turn for the worse...
