Hey Wimp,

Funny thing living in SF is everybody respects the lost cell phone rule. I have honestly had my Blackberry returned to me 4 times now through cabbies, bartenders, or just random partyers. Its an unspoken rule here that if you text yourself the next day claiming your phone, 90% of the time it will get back to you, and I've returned my share of other peeps phones too. If they havent texted, I would just take to to an AT&T store, thats just me though.
IBtheOP has been using this phone for a bit now. He wanted to come on here to justify his actions.
Sadly... the youth of today pulls bull**** like this.
OP... You aren't *entitled* to that phone. How would you feel if someone came to your house/place of business, and stole your wheels/brakes/interior/top mount/CAR?

So yeah, I'm down with 'doing the right thing' of trying to get someones expensive *** phone back to them, and/or having it disposed of properly.
I dont see anything wrong with "finders keepers", but Id make a conscious effort to find the person. Its cool that you waited a week before doing anything to see if they would find it.
I would do two things, call the store and ask if anyone came in asking for a "lost cell phone". Im sure anyone who works there would say it was theirs if you said it was an iphone. Then Id try to play some of the songs from teh iphone through itunes and find the email address. Then Id email them and wipe the phone and start using it (T Mo or AT&T) If they email back at some point, Id return it. Otherwise Id use it.
Its not like you stole it, you found an abandoned phone. I just spent $655 on a new iphone, so I would be SUPER PISSED if I lost it and it would be really cool if someone returned it, but it would be my fault for being careless enough to lose it in the first place.
