Failure to Stop
I have a great ticket story now...
I coach at a local JC for men's soccer. We had a double header last week where we played back to back with the women's team. I went home after our game to grab my dog since she had been shut up in the house and headed back to the school to watch the girls game. One of my friends was in the front seat, dog is in the rear with the windows rolled down. I was first in line at a stop light and watched a patrol car go down the same street I was waiting to turn onto. The light turns green and I proceed down the street to a stop sign about a block away. I arrive at the stop sign, pull up and stop right at the line. I see the patrol car off to my right parked along the street with the officer in it looking straight at me. There is a car to my left that arrives there first, so I wait for them to go through then pull out to make a left turn. I'm stopped maybe 10-15 seconds, completely stopped. The cop instantly speeds in behind me with his lights on. First thought is he is just going to harass me for tint or front license plate, because its in traffic, not speeding, completely stopped. I get all my paperwork ready for when he gets to the window, trying my best to be super polite. He asks me if I know why he pulled me over, and I say no. He begins to explain, then asks if my car windows are electric. I tell him yes and he asks if I would roll them up because of the dog... shes a pit so its understandable, but shes on the passenger side cowering away from him. He asks me if I have been drinking or have anything in the car I need to tell him about. He then asks if theres any reason my license is suspended and I say not that I know of. He then raises his voice at me and yells yes or no, its a simple question. I say no and he walks away, comes back with a ticket for failure to stop.
What pisses me off the most is that after the game is over, and I'm on my way out of the school I come right back to that same intersection. He is there waiting again, but behind a car so people can't really see him. This Jeep in front of me just rolls straight through the stop and he does nothing, even saw him looking straight at it. I wanted so badly to just pull up next to him and ask him why the Jeep gets away but he pulls me over after I follow the law. My court date is the beginning of November, going to bring my buddy with me to help my case.

WoW! Fight in court! I don't understand why he ticketed you for something you did not commit. But hold on... were you driving with suspended license? If anything, you might still be lucky?!

Nope... I have one previous ticket in 2 years, nothing bad on my record. My buddy was just as pissed as me afterwards, we were stopped for so long and he ticketed me for that of all things.
that is bull- wtf i hate cops on power trips. he probably is married to some nasty shim named dan and takes it in the ***, but why does he have to harass ppl following the law?!
have fun in court, hopefully he wont show or he will and he will sound stupid.

The real stinger about this situation is that it's your word against the cops, the Judge will side with the cop and having a friend there probably won't help.
Even if you go to court and win, or the cop doesn't show so it is thrown out, you've still had to take time off work and waste a day just because you came across an ******* with a badge and an attitude problem.
Sorry for your bad luck, hope it works out for you.

You can take it to court. State your case.
But I'm going to tell you right now that you will not win that case unless he no shows. It's his word against yours and he'll surely say he saw you not stop.
I had this happen in santa cruz a while back and told the officer that from where he was it was impossible for him to see my car as I was abstructed by a large van that was in front of me. I stopped and went.
Got the exact same ticket. Went to court. The officer said that the van pulled around the corner and when I came into view I was too close to the van to have completely stopped a the stop sign. I told the judge I did stop but the van simply pulled away very very slowly.
didn't matter that the officer didn't actually see me at the intersection in full view and admitted so. I got the ticket.
I'd plan on going to traffic school.
honestly though. if I were you'd I'd try to do the written deal. fight it that way first. Think that's your best bet.

do it written, i got the same crap from a cop before down at school in claremont, friend rolled through the stop sign, called me to tell me a cop was parked there since it's on the way to campus, i stop obviously, and get pulled over. Prep a witness statement and fight it by written.
