The CHP does not pay their officers to send in written letters of explanation but they do get paid to go to court. Just a little FYI. So I'd advise fighting it via snail mail.

Why would you need to pass this guy? If you moved over right to get up to 75 to pass said car why didn't you just stay in the right lane since no one was in that lane. In all honesty though you have no reason to be in left lane unless you are passing. You did wrong own up to it and pay your fines and do traffic school because you don't have a leg to stand on.

...and we won't go into what the momma (of "baggy pants" football guy) was saying on TV, giving all those excuses why her poor little innocent son was picked on and how he was emotionally distraught over a funeral...
Really? Where's the taking responsibility there?

Yeah I usually stay out of these thread but seems like lately so many are "I got this ticket or that ticket how can I fight it yada yada" I have 20 yrs driving experience and only one ticket when I was 19 I paid it no biggy I was in the wromg.. It was only 60 bucks back then and in a different state. Which no matter what you were not allowed traffic school the ticket goes on your record and insurance for 5 or so years depending on what it was. We didn't have a point system it just sat there till years went by and if you are stupid to do over and over again they would suspend your DL. Pretty much hit the nail on the head as we are from a different generation. Gotta pay to play!
Gibz, as much as that's wise advice, the OP wants to avoid taking responsibility for his decision/actions. It's the way society has taught the younger generation - nothing is their fault, everyone else is wrong, and to avoid personal responsibility. Let's try to blame the officer who was doing his job, because he's supposed to have a neon sign over his car giving away his location, then never issue a ticket - heaven forbid...

It's not that I don't want to take responsibility for my action, I already stated that I did sPeed up... Yet i have a reason why. I the law allows me to be able to explain myself to a judge weather it's in court or through a written letter, why shouldn't I do it? If there's a posability that my fee can get waived ( because the judge thinks it should) why not try? Why just take the ticket and pay without trying? I wasn't speeding like crazy nor the whole drive to wrk... It was that little moment to allow the truck to pass and then move back to the slow lane... If anything I did him a favor ( something the fast lane driver wasn't doing) ..... I'm over this it useless to try and explain things to certain people..

My advice would just be to weigh the pros and cons. If money is the issue, weigh the amount of the ticket to a lost day of work at court. Even if you win you may lose cash from missing work. If it just bugs the **** out of you on a personal level, which im sure it does because you feel you did what was right, then are you willing to lose financially to win a moral battle?
