When I got a fix-it ticket for my exhaust, I would go home, swap mufflers, find the nearest cop and get it signed off, then go home and swap back to the Flowmaster.
This is kind of what I do now with a Turbo XS Stealthback exhaust since the midpipe flange allows stock 2.5" and aftermarket 3" flange. I just have to use a GrimmSpeed 2.5" to 3" adapter between the 2.5" axleback and midpipe since the midpipe is full 3". I swap the axleback portion in 5-10 mins and have a few choices that all sound and look different. I switch between a stock STi axleback, SPT Bosal, STi GeNome USDM, Ebay N1 (SRS/Tsuedo), TSX RFL. Whole things gotta come off for during smog time though.

Consider buying a domestic, you can run a header and get nods or thumbs up from law enforcement. This issue stems from an something that probably happened years ago, an off duty officer pulled up to a Sti or Evo in his SS Camaro and was destroyed so imports have suffered ever since

Court has to make it a correctable first.
