ethanol from seaweed

i guess theyre looking into a more sustainable way to get ethanol and are using seaweed.

I read a similar one to that which uses a moss/fungi to perform the conversion and ethanol is a byproduct.

Corn is one of the worst crops of Ethanol. They can fight it all they want but in the end there are much better alternatives.

True but they have the strongest lobby and the most senators behind them, so all of the better alternatives are boned.

There's a company in South San Fran called Solazyme that's been doing stuff like this with Algae for years

i wish i could get e85 where I live stories like this make me hopeful that e85 will stick around long term and that more stations will start popping up

Friend of mine works for a venture capitalist firm in this industry. Got to check out the lab and see the initial seaweed and smell the final diesel product. Amazing stuff.

As soon as we run out of oil the scientists will solve our energy problem really quickly.....whilst we have oil there is a really powerful group who want zero change...it's sad
