The smarter thing to do would be to sell your EcuTek-flashed ECU and get a stock one in return. The EcuTek license costs ~ $650. It would be a shame to just flash it back to stock-ish parameters. You could sell it to someone for like ~400 and get their stock ECU back from them... they can get it reprogrammed by any EcuTek tuner if the tune on it doesn't match their mods...

the stock ECU can be reflashed with ECUTEK...thats what I have in my car, and I love it....besides the $650 is a one time cost, once you have the license, you can get it retuned for about ~$180 or so, depending on who flashed it for you, although I believe you have to go back to the place that originally flashed the ECU. Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

edit: Nice numbers Dan....and that sure is a pretty torque curve! You are making more WHP than I am.........atleast for the moment. hahahahahahahaha! I only need a few more parts, to start the transformation.

Nope, not usually. I *think* there's a way that places can sort of lock their license on the ECU but I haven't heard of anyone actually doing that. I got my EcuTek ECU retuned by a different shop than I purchased the license and original tune at, without issue. This is normally the case.

Also Ed rocks, and I really think you should get your setup tuned there Ted

Dan's reflash and tune was $650 which is the base price for any initial Ecutek reflash. The price for AccessPORT and custom tune using ProTUNER will be slightly higher, but not by much.

Basically the main advantages of the AP is that you can have multiple maps (street, high octane, valet mode, anti-theft, etc) and you also have the ability to easily sell the AccessPORT if you sell your car. If these advantages are not important, then you can go with an Ecutek reflash which just reflashes the stock ECU with no other devices to play with. Please feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Thanks

Ted,

You're correct on everything except your last statement. Once you have the Ecutek license stored on your ECU, any Ecutek licensed tuner can re-tune that ECU without using up another license, so you're not necessarily tied to a particular tuner. One more thing I'd like to add is that while any Ecutek tuner can tune any ECU that has an Ecutek license on it, there is no way for a tuner to download the map that's currently on the ECU. This was done to protect the intellectual property of individual tuners.

Thanks
