he's asking about Etymotics and Shures and people are posting cheap sony earbuds?!? its almost insulting to put them in the same league. haha.

I have Shure E2c's and i love them. I would like to try ER6's or E3's but they are a bit out of my price range. I belive most review places put the ER6's above the E3's. But i am sure you cant go wrong with either.

The Sonys are only cheap because they are mass produced. I bought them for $100 in 2001 (acutally a little over $100 at the time, bought at Saturn in Berlin). When they cost $100 they were worth every penny.

He also said "cheap". If he meant "inexpensive" I thought he might want to know about the Sonys.

my bad. i didnt see the inexpensive part with my "skip every 3rd word" speed reading. but the earbuds he mentions are anything but cheap. at least to me. the msrp's on them are like $150+. altho u can get the er6's for $100 on sale and the e3's for $115 on sale

my friend has the sony 71's and we did a comparison with my Shure E2's and the E2's blew the 71's away. altho the E2's are a little more $. u can get them for $65

hahahaha, I did mean "inexpensive" or a cheaper place to find them.

...and I have kinda been looking at the MDR-E888SP's for a while... still can't decide.

I used to have Shure E2C's, until someone stole them out of my tent (deployed to the middle east right now). They sounded fantastic, but they weren't very comfortable, and they would slide out of my ear canals. I think I'll be trying a pair of Etymotics next.

if you are referring to the $500 shure e5c earbuds, they are custom fitted to the individual user's ear.

plus the frequency response and wayyyyy better than the e3c and the 32c...

the shure dudes told me, these are the preferred earbuds by performers on stage...

I use Koss "The Plug" earbuds for my iPod. Someone recommended the Radio Shack knock offs a long time ago. I came across the actual Koss versions while browsing the headphone/earbud aisles at Fry's for about $15 shortly after that thread. I love the way they sound compared to my craptacular crackling factory Apple earbuds. There's websites that shows DIY instructions on various mods to ticker with the way they fit in your ear and how they sound. Just run a Google search for "Koss Plug mods".

just wanted to chime in...those sony mdr-ex71sl earbuds SUCK A$$! i use them for my mp3 player at the gym and that's the only use i will tolerate out of them. they fit well for me and bass response is decent, but they're not very crisp.

Unhappy

Dell has some killer deals, but you have to be a student.

e2c's $50
e3c's $90

Anyone want to hook a brother up?
