Still at it? Even though I PM'd you as to not crap on the thread anymore you still feel the need to go back in forth in his thread? Classy. Obviously with road conditions what they are in N.Cali my BBS's will be my winter wheel and the Type RA's will be the summer/track wheel. Just let it go keyboard hero.

Subydude, 200 moaR miles closer to being broken in! Nice. What method for break in are you using? I think that front end will look hawt on the '06. Update pics with the lowering jod, should look much better.

I beleive in staying under 4k for the first 1k myself. I know others have dif thoughts but this was my first new car and my friend blinguskahn helped me break in my motor. Some people say break it in like you stole it but I wasn't going to risk it, he has had like 5-6 subies so I went with what he said. 3k is low, I had a hard time sticking to 4k and under hahaha. It was still fun since the car I moved up from was slower than this car was under 4k.

After the 1k miles were on the motor Blingus did the "load" break in where you go up a hill to going up to 4k and letting off, go up to 4k and let off repeat. Then you go down the hill and let the hill load the engine up to 4k and let off and repeat all the way down. Second run up the hill we went to like 5k and let off and repeat up the hill. Then the second run down the hill load it up to 5 k and let off and repeat down the hill. The third run we went to 6k and let off and repeated up the hill and the third run dow we went to 6k and let off and repeated. I guess the idea behind this is to break the rings in both ways. Anyways sorry to ramble it made for what seems like a solid engine after 30k on the odo. btw I moved to full syn after 1k oil change and my motor is not an oil drinker.

I want to try a set of those s03's for the rainy season up here. It's about to start monsooning Gotta love N.Cali on the coast.

I am a firm believer of the 1k break in for these motors, I recently broke a motor after doing the much fabled "race break in" when we pulled the motor out the guys found that the reason it failed was due to poor ring seal (on one piston the rings all still lined up as installed...)

Thanks for the info, I am going to check out tirerack as I h8 the snow tires I am on now (Falken Ziex's). My buddy gave them to me for SUPER cheap with only like 200miles on them when I wore my stockers out and I have been missing grip(confidence) ever since.

And yes, sitting on top of other people's money

Ill agree with you on that, the 512 ziex are decent in the rain, but really suck in the dry. WAY too much side wall flex, its like riding on ballons

It really took some getting used to after having the stiff stock Potenza's. I need a tire that is better in dry and can still give me confidence when it rains. I think the s03 is the ticket from the reviews I read.

First thing you need to do is actually give us a budget for what you want to spend on tires. Secondly, let us know where your priorities are in terms of performance and ride comfort and put them in order of most important to least important. Also specifcy if you want all seasons or summer tires. For example, my list for the wet season goes like this:

1. Wet traction
2. Stiff Sidewall
3. Treadwear
4. Dry traction
5. Noise
6. Comfort

well living where you live wet traction is number 1

1. Wet traction
2. Stiff sidewall
3. Dry traction
4. Treadwear
5. Comfort
6. Noise

I would LOVE to keep it under 1k shipped/installed. I am about a month out from getting new tires as the budget now is 0.

i think tires are like condoms. not all size fits all... gotta find ur needs and find that tires that suites that.

falken 512s for the past 3/4 years we've been doing tires have been the #1 seller... mainly because they are M+S rated (for our suby brothers in the snow) and they are priced pretty good.

you can definately find tires much better than the 512s but for the price you pay...

anyways... stop hijacking my thread!
