yeah if you had to classify that particular scene, it would fit under some ego wroffls type drivers. You just happened to be caught at the wrong time, and if i had video of me my whole time spent driving, it would catch a few things that could me misconstruded. As long as we learn from these things, they should only happen once and i just assumed that "driver x" had been driving for a while therefore has done this "move" more than once.

at least youll have something to poke fun at me with whenever we end up crossing paths!
cool later

Red face

Glad we are all 'kissing and making up'.

I am not an ogre, but that just struck a little too close to home, eh? I buried three guys in less the 18 months... I kept saying, "it won't happen to me..." But, I wasn't that sure anymore after that year and a half. So, I stepped of the bikes.

Let me relay a little stupidity on my part (told you I was no angel!).

I used to ride with 6-8 guys ALL the time on our Ducatis. All of us had intercoms...

When the first guy pulled out to pass, if it was clear he would shout 'GO!' to the rest of the pack ~ and we would pass the cars in front, no matter WHAT the road looked like.

One trip, I swung out and barely got in, before an oncoming car swung into view and I yelled in a panic 'NO!'

Yep, too close to 'GO!'... no one was hit, by some miracle, but as I watched under my elbow in my mirror, it was complete bedlam! I was in total shock when I realized what I had almost done (like KILL my friends!).

We all turned out at a pull out and tossed every one of our intercoms off a cliff on Hwy 1 right into the ocean and never rode like that again...

If there was a 12 step for stupidity ~ I would have joined right there in Monterey!!!

i understand, its hard to see so many people you care about pass away, and then see something related to it.

You comments about cutting the corners to keep up with the pack clearly show that.
Hey Pingu, remember when we were both on that Doc Wong drive in damp conditions when the guy in the imported Skyline tried to keep up with us Scoobys and ended up wrecked in somebody's back yard........perfect example of the 'group drive' mentality.

I always do my best work on my own, on the track...it's the only way to put your car on the limit.

That, I would have loved to have seen.

I once had an M6 trying to keep up with my Twin Turbo Saab 900 in Central Cali, go off into the ranch fencing, then continued 50 yards into the cow field. I backed up, made sure he was OK ~ then shouted, "Buy a four banger!"

Not that much has changed, eh? Long live the four bangers.

Real classy.

Has everyone finished standing on their soap boxes now? Does anyone else need to mention that driving on the wrong side of the road is bad or that seeing other Subarus made us feel invincible and causes you to show off?

I'm sure nobody here would liked to be video taped doing something that looked very stupid and dangerous, then have strangers tell them how young and stupid they are.

When I first moved to the bay area, Doc Wong's driving clinics were a way for me to learn local roads....but after a few track days I realised the best place to put your car on the limit is on a racetrack...if you overcook a corner you have 6 cars width of track and a 50' run-off area...

if it rains at Laguna Seca you can Slay Corvettes, SRT's and Vipers all day long...and for $165:

http://www.nasaproracing.com/

If your a n00b they give you a FREE instructor who shows you the racing line and the braking points and the worst that can happen is youend up in a sand trap.

If you wanna race,,,go to the track.

i really want to do an Altamont day. The tight 1.1 mile road course shouldnt be that expensive. They make their money off the people that watch the races every weekend anyways, maybe get a time attack/autocross that uses the road course for $50 a driver?

Hi Glen! Nice that you remember me. Of course I remember that crash. I never saw the guy again.

When I first started driving with docwong, I felt that herd instinct and was driving above my limits. Now I just stay at the very end of the caravan and drive at my own pace without worrying about holding back someone.

this is the dumest thing ive ever seen anyone argue about. it funny how people who werent there always have some remark to say i was the pasenger in the black evo up front and i was able to see the road way ahead of us and most of us had walkie talkies and was able to comunicate with everyone else and tell them when car were coming and moto bike and cyclist wer coming up the road ... so build yourself a bridge and get over it.

If you guys do these moutain runs, do what my friend and i do, we bring a two way radio, have a lead car with spotter, the first guy takes it like 70 percent or whatever, and radios back if anything is up like cars/bumps/whatever..do it at night, its not dangerous for others and not that bad for you, just don't understeer off the cliff. the guy in the back knows if theres a car coming on, so you can go rally style and hit the apex. works pretty well, but seriously guys, i'm ALMOST done with doing these moutain runs, one day, we're gonna kill ourselves, so take it to the track, save money. i really wanna do track days but..can't fork over 200 for one.

You guys crack me up

Keep it safe, don't cross that line, and take care of each other.

One other piece of advice: drive with those you know personally. It's when you drive with those you don't know so well that things go wrong. That is from experience.
