But, rant is over. I pleaded my case. More bikes will meet these people head on. Sure as they cut corners. I sold all my Ducks (5 of them) when #3 died. I loved my scooters, but I love my kids more...

Plain and simple. This 'outsider' wishes his three CHP family members had seen just a portion of this show in person. Idiots all. If you can't afford a track... then trade down to a shift cart... you'll have plenty of money left to 'race'.
Again. IDIOTS! I lost three friends on bikes to exactly this kind of driving... MORONS!
There are THREE kids without their Dad's because of a fun Sunday drive by people as your group. I came in easy ~ but now you will be called on it ~ STUPID!
Rant. Over.

Driving meets this huge are cool, dont get me wrong, i look forward to show up to one, but it doesnt have to involve driving to this magnitude. It reminds me of the kids playing initial D at the arcade that wont let the others have a turn. We have to respect the uses of our roads! in the 70's my dad used to tell me how he could ride from Cupertino, thru the streets and creeks on his dirtbike with his friends, find a cool place to ride at stevens creek, go up the mountains and ride UNGATED FIRE ROADS! and you know why the fun got shut down? because of the guy who comes in and starts doing donuts who invites all his 4x4 buddies over, only to leave all their trash behind, having no respect for the place.
"SPEED alone does not kill... stupidity DOES." YES! when your rounding that 50 mph corner just like the guy coming at you...as your side mirrors pass within feet of eachother, you feel how important that RESPECT is that should never be broken.
speed is just numbers on paper, and only when that paper flies into the other lane is when it becomes a problem.
The minivans pulling over as well as cyclists stop and call 1800-TELL-CHP They have every right to. And we wonder why we dont get the Euro/Japanese spec cars to America...
Im pretty sure that Bikers OWN the road in the daytime, Drivers SHARE the road at night time, since little amount of bikers even ride at night because they know that the true drivers are out at night. Not to mention theyre the ones that will get killed by hitting a deer or not having a light pod with 6 lights on it to see the cliff coming at them.
the word touge is just about as worn out as JDM
This "touge" culture is getting diluted by the weekend. im doing my best to keep it pure driving late at night during the work week.

I'm not impressed really, you should be able to handle curves like that in one lane in a $30k sportcompact. I mean seriously, where's the skill in using the whole road anyway?

at about 5:31 into the video, it was a left turn. from the camera's point of view, you (that's assuming the camera is in your car) are clearly over the double yellow and there was a bicyclist coming.
sorry for adding to the flame. btw, what time of day was this on a sunday? another reason why we need a nurburgring like road in the bay area.

While I agree with you, bikers cross the double yellow as well. I remember mt. hammy 2 years ago and their were a large amount of bikes out and a TON of them were playing with disaster
I'm not saying 2 wrongs make a right, but it does happen on both sides

If you crossed the line because it was the only way for you to keep up with the pack, then you should fall behind, not risk other people's lives...or alternatively get some talent..
if you and your idiot friends want to race try:

I'm not sure why people thought is was important too bring up sport bikes. Comming head on to a car that jumped into the opposite lane is deadly for anyone no matter what vehicle. Bikers are most certainly not the most law abiding people on the road either. I've seen them do plenty of stupid things that put me into as much risk as them. Especially in the Santa Cruz mountain areas where it can get very dangerous. I have nothing against them, but don't play favorites.
There's plenty of other "tools" that drive down that road, they just don't happen to be on video tape. I'm not condoning some of the things that happened, but don't isolate the people on this drive to the point where you ignore all of the other ***-hattedness that happens on that road on any other day. Some of the things I saw on the drive did make me cringe and I think that there were parts where we should have slowed down more instead of making our own lanes. I also think that had we all stayed inside the lines, others wouldn't have needed to push so hard to keep up.
You can say what you want to the people on that drive, but they are all well aware of what they were doing. I'm not going to speak on anyone else's behalf as I'm sure each person knew exactly what they did or did not do and don't need to be overly criticized for it. We can respect your input on the subject, but we don't need the soap box lecture on what's right and wrong either.

it leads to more funding for rangers and sheriff to patrol these areas now, exactly what we're trying to avoid.
Its just way too much attention i think. It doesnt show your skills to anyone, and theres always some slow guy ahead of you.Its cool to have BBQs and talk about your cars and events and what not, but i wouldnt leave nose to tail.
its like when your on the freeway at 3:30 AM you can pretty much do what you want and have a chance to talk your way out of the 120 mph ticket if you get pulled over.
