Daniel - More Glock pics for you !

I decided to do my "Grip Chop Job" on a 2nd Gen Glock 17 and take some pictures (since the 17s and 22s that I have done similar work were sold before pics were taken).

This allows the use of Glock 19 15 rd mags (for carry) and 17 mags for spares. Best of both worlds - reliability of the standard 17 with the shorter / concealable grip of the 19.

Glock 34 with standard length grip vs. G17 with "grip Chop Job".

Enhanced G17 with stippled Kasper / Crawford folder.

Here is a Glock 34 that I finished today. Gun-Kote O.D. slide, Heinie sights, tuned trigger with 3.5 connector, Wolff steel guide rod with Wolff springs, rounded and stippled trigger guard, grip reduction with full stippling, and mag well cut outs.

Hmm interesting. But what can the modded/chopped G17 do that a regular G19 can't?

On average the G17 is more reliable than the G19, plus on this set up, the sight radius is longer than the G19.

Here is another Glock 21SF that I finished today. The following are the mods / parts used for this pistol: Lone Wolf stainless barrel, Lone Wolf stainless Guide rod and 20 lbs recoil spring, Ghost 3.5 connector, NY-1 trigger spring, Hi-Viz red (front) and green (rear) fiber optic sights, trigger job, polished chamber, feed ramp, and chamber. Grip reduction with medium stippling. Last but not least - Lone Wolf metal slide plate.

I dunno...comparing G17 and G19 reliability is like splitting hairs. They're both uber reliable. But what I was trying to get at was, since your chopped G17 is a "CCW setup" why not just get a standard G19 to begin with?

Sight radius is really a moot point, considering most CCW related shootings take place at 7 yards or less anyways. Wouldn't the G19's shorter slide and better concealability be a better trade off versus a longer slide/sight radius?

The G19 is fine for some, but for others, the G17 works better. The hardest part in concealing a firearm is the grip. The slide isn't a real big deal. Since, I have been in a field where I carried and used firearms for almost 20 years, many in my profession do prefer to carry a larger pistol.

On average, gun fights do occur at 7 yards, but in some cases, the engagement ranges are further. Plus, the extra barrel length does increase the velocity of the ammo, ensuring enough bullet velocity to enhance bullet expansion. Also, the extra slide / barrel mass helps to tame muzzle flip (enhancing control in rapid fire).

Wow, very nice.

Out of curiosity, how much could you reduce the trigger pull on a Glock model 21?

BrokenArrow - On average what would it cost to do these mods on a G17?

Glock trigger pulls can be set up for a variety of trigger pull weights. For Defensive use - stock is best, if modified than a NY-1 trigger spring and a 3.5 lb connector will be about 4.5 - 5 lbs. (actually feels less).

Target use - 3 - 4 lbs. (Waiver needs to be signed for this - "Target Use Only").
