Damn. Does everyone in this thread have hemmroids or something!!! Holy hell. I figured I would put my two cents in (with corect spelling for Sinister)
The cars have nothing to do with anything. The people that drive them are the difference.
If the guy in the 80's hillbilly Camaro burning tires at the stoplight and weaving through traffic could afford an STI then he would drive it just the same as the Camaro. Thats just the way it is. It's the attitude and age(usually but not always).
I would also like to say: SUVS AND MINI-VANS speed just as much (IMO) as any other type of vehicle. I get passed on a daily basis by some skank bag bukkake faced soccer mom on a cell phone. It's not racing but speeding is speeding.

It only takes a few bad apples to ruin the bunch. That's why they're cracking down on the imports instead of the domestics. The domestics are fast enough that they take it to the track.

you're talking about mid-atlantic and eastern states. its probably true that the imports are causing the scene there and that the domestics may be the innocent victims there. but regarding here in the bay area, it is from my EXPERIENCES and from what i have SEEN that the imports are being the profiled vehicles and not as much on the domestics. i'm not saying that the imports and subbies should be exempted, but rather if they're going to crackdown.... then crackdown on EVERYONE not just the import community.
ie. just today in milpitas, my buddy who works in a bank gets pulled over in his brand new 350z. basically his car is a bone STOCK 350z. apparently having a factory nismo kit is grounds for being a street racer. the cop makes my buddy pop the hood and rev up to 5k. my buddy got pissed and didn't know whether to tell the cop that he shouldn't cuz he's only got about 600 miles in that car and hasn't even finished the break in period yet. all in all.. the cop just gave him a warning telling him that if he's caught street racing that he'll get the car impounded. and all this time i was the passenger in the car. no my buddy was not speeding nor anyhting illegal or stupid. he pampers the car waaaaaay too much to do anything stupid with it.

Do someting about it then.
Wow, just skimmed this whole thread. I must say there is a whole lot of emotion up in here.
Now I have a few things to vent.
1) Its called Operation Dragnet, it's a nation wide program, even the FBI is involved. It started in San Diego and has filtered out the rest of the planet. If you care to know this months copy of "Police" has a story on the whole thing.
2) The LE community can't do anything about the 16 year old that races mom's stock civic or dad's SUV (which makes up a good % of the problem) So they have no choice but to go after the people they can track down and show results to for their local communities; the automotive enthusiast. It's all a game. If a community leader gets run down by kids going to fast, its labeled racing and the people want results; the Cops are forced to get results.
3) Instead of complaining about the problem, do something. If you feel you have been pulled over for driving an import see if you can file a discrimination law suit vs. the agencies that pulled you over. Because of the public records act you should be able to get the numbers for how many cars get pulled over and the makes a models of those pulled over. Yuo can't get personal information but you can dig up something. County records might have it lying around. Start there. How many I-clubers voted last month? If so who did you pick and why? Did you know CA has a handful of reps that are car guys? These politicians are trying their best to get laws passed so that if a car owner is able to pass smog and a Db noise test it won't matter if the car has modifications. But so far they've run into barriers. But they need help and support for thier cause. If you care enough to get mad about the way things are, do something about it, join an interest group; write some letters, go to a town meeting, something. But please, God oh mighty please, quit complaining about it.

Quit making stupid statements. I don't see any Subarus on the auction block going for over $100,000. Plenty of those "hillbilly Camaros" are.
And I know plenty of "hillbilly Camaro drivers" than can afford STis, and do own STis. People with attitudes like yours is what makes the automotive hobby miserable for everyone else, and that includes import and domestic fans alike.
And why doesn't it surprise me that your car gets passed by minivans?

ok, first- find me an 80's Camaro that is on the auction block for $100,000.
second- i don't give a damn about a credit card or what car they use but apparently you don't drive a subaru because that would put you and i in the same boat, huh? considering that an 80's camaro is the trailer park poster child.
third- i was talking about an 80's Camaro. YEAH the crappy a** 80's camaro that drives around with half the exhaust falling off hangars, mullet blowing in the wind and Tammy the trailer park queen in the passenger seat. My dad has been buying camaros and corvettes since i can remember and always kept them immpecably clean so i don't have anything against them.
fourth- people with attitudes like mine make the automotive hobby miserable? i very much doubt that- i respect and admire many cars from many manufaturers AND the people that drive them. so i don't think that i am biased to any specific company or type of person. my first car was an 80's camaro and WOW WHAT A HUNK OF TURD!!!
fifth- the reason i get passed by mini vans is based on the fact that i am driving the speed limit. So...thanks for your whiny a** comment.
sixth- i'm not a chief a** plug.

Who's talking about 1980s Camaros on the auction block for $100,000, other than yourself, ya jackass? And if Daddy kept all the Camaros in "impeccable condition," then WHY was yours neglected?
And I'm sure, Mr. BigBadSubaru just drives the speed limit EVERYWHERE, huh.....You're just the epitome of safe driving, aren't ya?
I don't drive a Subaru? Assjockey, I own not only a 1994 B4C Camaro (look it up, chump) but a 2005 STi as well. So know what that means? That means I own a Subaru.
I stand by my claim. Attitudes like yours make the car hobby miserable for everyone, both import and domestic fans.
