I have a few options:

Refinance the STI and retire it only to recreational driving instead of driving it every day because I love it.

Sell the STI and buy an econo lunchbox outright

Trade the STI in for a WRX or a more economical/cheaper model.

That being said, anyone have any experience refinancing a car? I want to find a place that has a lot of lenders, my APR is HORRIBLE, its 22% but that's all I could get due to a big blemish on my credit which should be gone now.
Usually credit unions are really good for this. My wife and I go to 1st united in pleasanton they were running a deal to save you up to 3% off but that wouldnt be much help for you.

Are you military? USAA offers great rates on refinancing.

How long have you had the car? one year making payments should raise your credit a good deal as long as you havnt had any other mistakes.

Keep the STI. the difference in price with a wrx is only like 6k you will not be happy if you get rid of it you will always regret it.

Also, consider if you have more than one car - see what the quote is from your insurance company on making your other vehicle (truck?) your primary vehicle, and changing the number of miles driven yearly on each vehicle to make the best use of fuel costs & insurance rates. I did that with my '04 WRX wagon (made it my car that's driven for "pleasure/recreation") and made my '00 Jeep XJ the primary vehicle, since it's cheaper to insure, and I now drive it more than the WRX to save a little $$$. When the weather gets nice, like it's starting to now, I'll start riding one of my motorcycles, getting anywhere from 45 - 65 mpg, depending on which bike I ride. A cheap bike might not be a bad idea for you, but you'd have to see if that fits your budget, as you'd have the cost of the bike, insurance, gear, and MSF school + testing & licensing fees.

Also, and I think you still have to have been in the military, you can check with USAA for insurance & your loan to see if they can offer you a better rate.

When did you buy your STi?? I bought my '04 wagon at the end of '03, and I think I got it down to around $22k, which was below invoice then, and my payments @ ~5% were around $350/month. I thought I remembered the STi's being about $10K above the WRX back then...
