I have a Samsung GalaxyS (Captivate) from the day it was released.
It's a great phone, very fast (especially after one clik lag fix). Screen is beautiful and bright and Swype is awesome and I would never use a touchscreen phone without it.
There is one potentially fatal flaw.... the GPS signal lock has issues. They just released a patch that was supposed to improve it, but I don't see much difference. Perhaps the Froyo update will address it, but nobody seems to really know.
So, if you rely on GPS on your phone, you're gonna hate it

Just got my G2 yesterday (via a buddy @ Tmobile, its actually not released yet
) and I absolutely love it...
Nothing wrong with the hinge on mine tho I have heard of it.
The only thing I hate about the phone is the keyboard feels like its shifted to the right a little bit. They put a ".com" button to the left of the "a" key and just feels awkward... I assume most users will become accustomed to the keyboard quickly.
Super fast, no lag whatsoever when going from app to app etc.

Rooting allows you full access to the OS files. Allows you to tweak things otherwise untweakable. Allows you to load apps otherwise unloadable. And gives you the freedom to completely screw up your device

But one click lag fix made a HUGE difference in performance and tethering is kinda nice.

Just found out, Amazon has the Epic on sale for 150$ with a plan!!! Buying mine very soon. The Evo is 180 which is 20$ cheaper than Sprint.

So much nicer than an I-Phone. Matt, I think your friend didnt set up his phone right. My battery has not been charged since 10:45am yesterday and it still has 82% left on the battery. Oh, and yes I been using it constantly.

Those prices I listed, the wife and I signed up for Sprint yesterday and got both the EVO and Epic for 350$ with start up fee's and free shipping. Cant beat that.
