Has it always been 28 or did they lower it? I thought it was older.

Hell my brother in law enlisted in the army at 39. He's on his way to germany then Afghanistan. Other brother in law did one tour in Iraq with the army. Another buddy did a tour in Iraq with the 82nd.

How many forums did you post this on?

What kind of bonuses are you offering?

aren't there rules about soliciting on i-club unless you are a vendor or unless it's in the classifieds?

I am one all for military service, but I have a bunch of military friends who finally finished their service and they are all bums now. Collect Unemployment, won't look for jobs, they won't even go to school. If you say you learn skills and what not, Im not too sure what good it did these guys.

The ones I know are all... ALL (edit... all but jeff. haaa) having issues finding jobs. My younger brother in law friggin smart as hell but has no "schooling" that's marketable. He is still in the reserves right now trying to figure it out. One of the other dudes is working at starbucks in hayward and another spot trying to survive. Etc.

The military is great for teaching you structure and self discipline but to actually come out with a marketable skill you need to apply yourself.

Look at Jeff. IPOZESTU. He's running a friggin power plant with nothing but his brain, drive and military experience. So it IS possible but not easy.

If you want to become a police officer, fireman or work in private security it does help though. That's what I keep telling my buddy to do. He's already proven he can kill if he needs to and can think on his feet. Not to mention he's expert in several weapons... even in the night test. haaaa.

I have about 20 buddies, from all sectors of the military, can't do anything with themselves.

Yeah dude I knew back in the day went into the navy after high school. Last I heard he was dealing drugs. I haven't seen the dude in YEARS. Used to be tight with him in high school.

I know quite a few and most of them aren't doing to well.

I mean you have basically a couple ways to go with it.

1. Career Military. Nothing wrong with that at all. It's perfect for some folks.
2. Military for the sake of gaining structure and trying to get pointed in the right direction. To do this you need to apply yourself and actually use the G.I. Bill and what not.
3. Military because you don't know what else to do or don't have options, broke, school isn't for you... etc. In this case it's really tough to come out and actually do something with yourself. Especially when the unemployment rate for the nation is so damn high. Friggin 900 people coming out for 40 jobs.

Even tougher for these guys that actually saw combat. Can really effect how you act with a society full of people like me... people full of **** that really have no clue what they're dealing with. Even if we try.

Non-Hackers. Sorry to hear that.

I like to think I do pretty good for myself. Before I was out selling automation equipment my office was on here (LHA-5 Peleliu):

The military can only do so much for someone. Ultimately it takes the individual effort to succeed.

The military is what you make of it and what you do after you get out. If you sit around and dont do crap then thats your fault. I know people who are set for life with what they learned in the military. Its all up to the individual.

Coast Guard = DOT (sorry not to mention them though, but it would be like saying TWA and Police) but they do a bunch of very important missions and keep our coasts safe, so props to the Coast Guard.

From what I have seen in the military, alot of people just find a little niche and stick in it. And once they get out, very few actually take advantage of all the programs that the VA has and also the MGIB.
