We briefly talked when I dropped off my brother at the Navy recruiter. You have the Texas plates and CF hood right?

How about these instead:

2. Being part of foreign relations that help build strong bonds for future generations. I myself was one of the first American military personel to go to Libya in over 40 years.
3. Training and experience in nearly all fields of work which can be used post service.
you forgot the most important!

4. Earning the honor of serving your country!

If I enlist, can I be a sniper? I only want covert ops, none of that infantry stuff...

As a ex-squid (navy) let me say a few things...

1)Welcome to the board marine, and thank you for your sacrifice and duty to our country.

2)Damn, now jar heads own subies, what next they might think they can figure out how to get on a boat without a navy boys help.

if you want to be a sniper, start running 10-15 miles, with a pack, boots on, and full uniform. then camp out in the middle of nowhere for a few days. Also, you want to be able to move around in the wild without detection. They teach you this, but in order to get there you have to be physically and more importantly mentally prepared for a very rigourous school.

If you go for it, good luck and remember, 1 shot 1 kill

You know, I at one time wanted to go SEAL. I passed the preliminary swim test, the prelim qualifier in shooting, and the physical...but the more I talked to folks the more I realized I just did not have what it took, and that I would have washed out in hell week.

I served in the Navy - aboard one of those "My *** Rides in Navy Equipment" ships. Thanks for asking.

You'd have to be a damn good infantryman and have your **** squared away before you even get a chance to go thru BRC (Basic Reconnaissance Course) in order to become a sniper. Oh and you better be in shape too. Anything less than a perfect 300 PFT means you go back to being a grunt. No Ricky Recon for you.
