Which car is a suitable Impreza replacement?

The CTS-V is quite a powerful car. Sure, it doesn't have the Corvette's aerodynamics/looks nor the racing heritage ancestry, however, it does have the Z06's powerful LS6 engine producing 400 HP under the CTS-V hood. Now, that's a killer sleeper/lurker car! It gives much competition and definately a heavy favorite amongst the sport sedans. I wouldn't mind one (who doesn't!) if it wasn't so nearly priced to the Z06 price range though. It's also a very rare breed as not many people have the special Cadillac CTS-V. Compare this to the BMW M sedans as a rivalry is brewing between the two.
Also, you might want to wait a bit and perhaps get your hands on the new generation 6.0 litre LS2 engines that are really friggin fierce! It's rumored that the GTO or GTO Judge may have the new LS2 engine inside of it and that's gotta produce some serious numbers. I don't know about price range though. Most likely it will be priced above the 40 K mark.
Sidenote: I can't wait to see a "C6 Chevrolet Corvette Z06!" OMFG! That would be effing nuts! May even give a run to the Vipers! That's way over 50 K at least though. Damn! I can dream nonetheless.

Thanks for the advice. I am swaying between an LS1 Camaro convertible as the price is good on these, an LS1 GTO but they are expensive, or a Prius but it is boring. The LS2 is a nice engine, but I've been driving an 04 Corvette for the last week and I could care less if it had 50 more horsepower at a higher RPM, you don't need that much power unless you're competing at a track. I really like the LS1's fuel economy which is better than the WRX and it's WAY more fun to drive than the Subaru. Heavily leaning towards the last generation Camaro with t-tops or convertible...big LS1 getting decent mileage, four seats, sun shining down...but it's kinda big and has a bad reputation (I guess that's good or bad however you look at it).

Yay! You took my advice! Awesome! Yeah, you'll be very happy with a LS1 Camaro. Those are so fun and so sick! Post pics if you do get it! I'm already in love with that car and want one.
The GTO is nice too, but I'd get the Camaro personally. Way expensive like you said and I think the GTO looks are really bland. Plus, no convertible option like the Camaro you're looking for.

I don't care about the motors enough, I'd never own a modern Camaro or WS6, the laid-back seating position, loose chassis, crap interior and build quality, and the fact that the dash is a mile from my face...
