As ish said, it's an internet hoax, folks. But if you believe everything you read in email or on the internet, then by all means don't buy gas on that specific day. You'll just have to buy that much more when you do eventually fill up.

Two previous BAIC threads posted about boycotting gasoline purchases:

https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...ht=boycott+gas

LOL.

truckers who do not work for large trucking companies are getting screwed with the current gas prices. i also saw on TV that some of them refuse to drive now...they LOSE money with current gas prices.

Diesel is ~ $3.15-$3.20 per gallon now. Higher in areas that are frequented by the larger commercial vehicles. So I'm not surprised that the non-corporate truck drivers aren't driving these days. They'd have to charge a bloody fortune just to haul something locally, let alone doing long line runs.

I drive a diesel pickup as my daily driver and these fuel prices are ridiculous. I've been sorely tempted to go buy a couple barrels of marine diesel and put em in my garage to fill up my truck.

Think of it this way though. Last I checked 100 octane was still about $3.80 - $4.00 per gallon if you buy it direct from the distributor. So if the pices for 92 keep going up, it'll be much easier to justify running on 100 all the time.

Boycotting the gas company will decrease the price dramatically. Ive checked into it and if over half the US didnt buy gas for 1 day, the gas companys would be close to bankrupcy!!! So Lets show them how to lower gas prices. So repost this to all your friends. We have to get the word out. Its NATIONAL DONT BUY GAS DAY!!!

read it somewhere and sounded pretty intresting
my god you are retarded for believing those emails...the gas company WONT go bankrupt over that since the gas stations have ALREADY bought their supply for gas and if anything they would raise the prices to compensate for the loss in sales or inflate some other product in their store to make up for the loss and of course eventually ull need gas just like everyone else so u really cant do jack **** about it...just suck it up and keep driving but conserve and dont go behotching about getting a hybrid car those cost too much ,get a diesel or even hell an older CRX HF if u really want 40-50mpg

In european countries the gas price is so high because of taxes. In most of those countries the taxes are what pays for their health care system, and everyone is covered.

In our country, the employers pay for the bulk of the health care and so if you don't have a regular full time position, or if you're a contractor then you don't have any employer paid health care. Some full time employers do cover only the worker, not his/her family.

I am not saying one system is better than the other, but to compare our gas prices with europe, realize that their prices are crazy because of govt taxes, not just the availability of oil and gas.
