dont read my post if you get offended by anything:

religion is one of the oldest forms of GOVERNMENT!!! a way to keep people from killing each other and stealing everything.. some smart guys decided that they are tired of all their **** getting stolen and started thinking how they could control people. then they thought hey lets make up all these rules and tell people they will go to hell if they dont follow them. now there is organized religion. i think organized religion is pathetic. how can 2 people believe the SAME EXACT thing?

another thing.. i used to be religious. my parents are anti religious and now i see why. i decided i dont believe in god or whatever because the time i was religious sucked more *** than any other time of my life.

even if god did exist.. i dont think he would want everyone to sit in a chapel/church whateva and worship him. i think god would like everyone to just be nice and look out for one another. thats just my thoughts though. flame me if you want i probably wont be able to find this thread anymore...

You know alot of people complain about our "two party system" but the fact is for the majority of issues in this country, theres usually only 2 clearly defined sides to stand on, so you only need one group to represent the opinions of those who side one way or the other on those issues. Furthermore, the more parties you have, the more you marginalize the majority of Americans. Its bad enough right now with the population split almost dead even, no matter who wins nearly 50% of the populations views and opinions will be marginalized, imagine if there were four evenly devided parties, you have the potential of 75% of the population marginalized,
no its not a perfect system
I think you hit on the natural tendency people have to polarize, but you seem to chaulk it up to the all of these issues actually only having two sides. No offense, but,I think that's a bit short sighted. We are so polarized, I think, because of fear which leads to compromise. We take the issues that are most important to us, pick the candidate that's most important to us who we think has a chance of winning, and then vote that way. But many people really loose. I am registered Democrat, but I do not necessarily vote Democrat. If Prop 62 pases I will re-register independent because the law will finally allow me to vote for whomever I choose, whenever I choose.

Remember, its not a perfect system because the system sucks. Its not a perfect system because people suck. Everyone, all of us are power hungry, greedy and selfish to one extent or another.
