I probably didn't explain it well. But, yeah, from my understanding, with what I have gleen from my conversations with my sister, that is precicely what her church is telling her.

I am not trying to be anti-Christian.

I just think that the church that my sister goes to is a bunch of wacko's. Remeber, these are the same people that convinced her that she was to blame for her dirty husband cheating on her...

You may want to check out: http://www.holyrollerz.org/index.php

We lost one of our longtime members (Andre/dr3d1zzl3) to that forum...
I also dont like any extremest either way, left, right muslim, jewish or christain etc. Too much of one thing can be deadly. Anyways I hope you were just making a point and not refering to me as an extremest. If so you should get to know me before you start making smart*ss coments towards me and my beliefs.

Thinking that you can separete justice and morality in your thinking is about as Pharisaical as it gets. Read Deuteronomy, Amos/Hosea and the Sermon on the Mount. These 4 treatises are the historical centers of christian morality and they revolve around being aware of and then doing away with one's sense of entitlement. I.e. Biblical immorality can always be traced back to claiming one's rights. Biblical morality, therefore, is not a matter of behavior and resulting punishment our culture thinks, but of godly justice - the concept of "shalom", an encompassing peace that is derieved from things being the way they are supposed to be. That is the "justice" Moses preached in Deuteronomy. Jesus echos it in his Sermon. God warns Israel and Judah against their resting on the laurels of piety in the Prophets. The Pharisees were the masters of moral behavior. Paul even claims to have been blameless as to the Law. But Paul also says it was not thing which was supposed to be the center of Christian faith. Legislating against abortion and homosexuality will not stop either issue. But displaying godly justice, choosing to be wronged, giving up one's false entitlement will make a truer statement to the Gospel than trying to force behavior down anyone's throat. After all, didn't Christ himself speak of godly justice as the freedom which comes directly from the Cross... giving up his crown and willing choosing to be wronged? Which example are you after, Christ's or the Pharisees?

I only read the first handful of posts (because I didn't want to take the time to read all of them ) All I can say is WTF to people that bring up Bush and religion in the same sentence and that I'm glad that I have a brother that doesn't really talk that much. Well, family is family, we all have bad apples.

No, I don't think so. I think it helped that you prefaced your comments stating that you weren't being anti-christian. However, I hope that your sister's experiences doesn't define Christianity for you; it is quite different from the churches I've experienced.

The language filter, since i am not a moderator I wasn't up to date on all teh rules of what you can and cant say, so i was going the safe route. Also i dont believe God would send his rath down on someone for being honest. Unlike Mr. Asshat who can say or treat anyone on this forum anyway he wants b/c he has a lot of posts.
