We should just have Mike and Ed battle it out with a knife fight

Both seem to be great tuners. Right now I think Ed is strictly tuning with the accessport, but Mike does the AP, Ecutek, and I think Hydra but I might be wrong on that. So, if you want to get tuned using the AP its a toss up. If you decide to go with Ecutek or Hyrda as your EM then it would be Mike.

I personally got tuned by the Ecutek rep AutoHQ contracts out to come here a few times a year. Like all JDM stuff you will pay a premium if you go this route, but you do get a get road and dyno tune.

I agree

I want to get my stage 2 TR protuned, and I'll probably go with ed because I have heard that mike can be really flakey and sometimes really cares a lot more about the people that spend a good amount of bank there. Ed seems like a nicer, more genuine guy that I think I'd trust more.

hmm, i'd have to disagree.

I haven't spent much money at gruppe-s..all I got there was a tune but Mike tuned my car and has ALWAYS followed up with me asking how its doing. He was also able to fit me in quick.

Well I haven't really experienced what I described personally, so I may be wrong. I am still not 100% sure whom I would go with. Mike is closer though

uhmm, you gotta add FLI on to that list as well. you know, that and the "built" crawford"bobble head" motor they "tuned" for you?

Bobble-heads for life.

EDIT: the FLI fan boy PM'd me asking to do my research so I don't start a rumor.

I guess they didn't "blow up" the motor, they just ****ed him in the *** without lube.

Werd. pwnt for shizzle

I personally have only spent about $150 total at gruppe-sex, but cant speak highly enough about them

I went to moike to get my stage 2 STi protuned. Went in the morning, got it strapped to the rollers, mike set up his tuning/logging sw, etc. I heard it wailing away on the dyno for the base line pulls. Shortly after he walked back into the lobby. At first I thought something was wrong, instead mike informed me my sti ran wonderful on the cobb maps (not very common) and that a pro-tune would not be all that noticble. While he could have charged me a couple hundred to custom tune the car, he informed me that 10hp was the realistic goal and to save my money for some other mods and come back

So he could have easily taken my money, instead of walking away with a lighter wallet, I walked away with some dyno sheets and peace of mind that their are honest folks left in this world

So to say Mike only takes care of those folks who spend $$$$ is foolish

My comment was based off of other people's first hand experiences. I don't regret what I said because frankly I have read a lot of reviews in this forum, good and bad. If you don't like what I have to say then tough. Lets not discuss it further..

Well thats the problem. Plenty of people swear by terrible tuners(on evoM,nasioc, etc), so to bash one of the truley good ones based on "what youve heard" is a folly IMO

I got a Ecutek reflash and tune done by Shiv @ Vishnu and can speak very highly of that experience because he spent a lot of extra time on my car then and later, and I had to remind him 3 times to pay him. He was nice and good to talk to, and took my stock '03 WRX from 156 to 192 4whp. This was a long time ago tho ('03) and I have heard he doesn't do much with the Subies anymore (worthless heresay).

I know Ed @ EQ is a really nice guy as I spent a long time talking to him actually at that same day when I had my car reflashed (the historical blacked-out tail light day) and have talked to him a couple times since. I hear nothing but rave reviews of his work, and to-date have never heard one negative thing about him or his work.

Mike @ GS is also really nice and has been very patient and gracious with all my endless lame questions about this or that. Mike has helped me a lot with questions and advice over the last couple years and I haven't given him anything for that. I guess I owe him a bottle of salad cream.

I plan to get a new WRX soon and will probably take it to Mike if possible as he seems to be the preferred Dynocologist in the Bay. I would definitely consider EQ, but I cannot make it to Davis and GS is easy to get to from my work.

just a little FYI: Ed is road tuning in Danville/San Ramon area for now and will be opening a shop in the east bay very soon.

Both Mike and Ed are great guys and know what they are doing. youll get an awesome tune either way.

i personally chose Ed and i have nothing but good things to say about the experience.
