Go to meets, get to know shop owners, kick it with people if you want the dirty details. Otherwise, just throw down your money and ge tuned and be done with it.

::Two Thumbs Up:: for Mike, Gruppe-S Tunning.
I haven't dealt with Ed, but Mike is very fair and backs up what he says. I have been dealing with Mike since I got my WRX, over 3 years, and he is excellent. Zero complaints only accolades.

On a side note my friends '04 burned oil like this

when shiv tuned it with just a dp and ecutek.
He since ditched that car and got an '05 STi (pink rims LOL). Soon to be breaking Gruppe-S pump gas record (again). This is not the place for a debate so I will concede.

Also, does a tune really cause an engine to burn oil, or is it that there's something wrong with the engine in general?

back when my car was near stock shiv did an awesome job tuning my car. then i moved on to a pretty modded setup with a vf30 and again the tune was awesome, lots of power and even more than i've seen for other vf30's. after that i went to a rotated turbo setup with the same MAF based management and the results weren't that great, the MAF was the limiting factor though since it was right in front of the turbo and not the tuners.
so +1 for shiv still. i've also been in a few cars that mike has tuned and they all run really well. haven't been in a car tuned by ed but from everything people have said he seems like a good choice aswell.
