Really? Bill Knose was a programmer/engineer - look how that went.

Mike and Ed have engineering backgrounds, both seem to have pretty good business sense

I'll say what I always say - all the tuners in the Bay area have done pretty sweet tunes and skill wise they are all top notch.

It just boils down to the time they have. Mike is really busy with R&D and Gruppe-S service department as well as test/tuning for the USTCC race team. You can't expect him to come out and turn around on a dime when he's got so many other responsibilities to juggle.

Ed tunes and all he does it tune. So that's a plus for going with him. He is gaining experience with high HP setups w/ recent blow through GT30R .63 and .82, and GT35R setups. Ed doesn't support ECUtek but he does support Hydra, Cobb, and is fiddling with OpenECU (the open source free reflashing software being developed)

Nothing but praise for EQ Tuning. Ed is meticulous and really wants the best tune possible for your car. I think he looks at it as a challenge. Each car is a little different, has it's own personality.. I know mine sure does. Ed seems to actually want to figure out each car and get the tune just right for that car. He wasn't happy until the power was smooth and wasn't happy until the power curves looked the way he thought they should. Even after I was happy with the result, he still said he had work to do and he didn't quit until he was happy with the result.

Don't get me wrong, Mike is awesome and is dedicated to customer service, and didn't charge me a cent for putting my car on the dyno twice for over an hour both times. I guess I could just say my car doesn't like Mike .
or Mike couldn't tune your care safely and didn't. I have seen him do that with others. My friends old '04 STi would tune for shizzle because of stuff wrong, he went 3 times and 3 times it could not be tuned (safely). Not saying this is the case but I doubt Mike lacks the skill to do what Shiv did he just didn't because there was something up with your car. Mike tunes for motor longevity as well as power, and we thank him for that!

I know a lot of his customers sound like a broken record , but Ed @ EQ Tuning absolutely takes the time to maximize the results (safely!) for your setup, and will make sure it's done right. I was very happy with my results and will definitely be back if I change things up and and need more tuning.

Ok do mind sharing the details then? I mean that would give you more credibility if you backed it with maybe an explanation?

On a side note my friends '04 burned oil like this

when shiv tuned it with just a dp and ecutek.

He since ditched that car and got an '05 STi (pink rims LOL). Soon to be breaking Gruppe-S pump gas record (again). This is not the place for a debate so I will concede.

Definitely not edifying conversation, but educational (informing us of tuner history) for sure...

Every tuner has made mistakes, even dropped the ball, no matter how awesome they are. This is real life, folks. Not some fairytale land where tuners either are perfect or they suck.

Look I think you should take this to PM. Talk privately, I don't want flaming in public and all this BS that always happens.

Again, take it to private conversation. You can PM me too.

It won't be taken to a PM, because it is no fun when no one else sees it going on. That is half the fun of posting like this...

If you are so worried about pm's then why didn't you pm me this info? I never said Mike was perfect, I mean he is british..... I am just saying there is more to this "knock Mike couldn't fix" story.
