There's actually one at Laguna Seca.

They shot a little too close to the grass a couple weeks back and started a fire...hehe.

Hey guys,
I'm planning on shooting for the first time. What's the best place for a newbie? I've never had any experience and don't know anyone that has. Any suggestions?

We ended up going to Jackson Arms in south san francisco, shotguns and pistols mainly.

Really nice place.

You have to get a temporary permit. It's something like $25 it lasts 6 months and it's really easy common sense stuff.

No....no permits needed to walk into a range to rent a gun and shoot.

Def the best one.

Also, in Milpitas there is a range called Targetmasters. It's sort of ghetto though, lots of sketchy people go there, the staff doesn't know sheet unless you're talking to the head people, but mostly its kids right out of HS helping you and they don't know jack about anything. The one plus with Target Masters is that they are open late. 12:00am, they take their last shooter at 11:00.

Reeds is open till 9 I believe. The people that work there are very knowledgeable, and the people that shoot there are higher class than with target masters.

Prices are listed on reeds website. They both have pretty good selections for rent, though reeds has higher end pistols.

Have fun man!
