Bay Area Alarm Install

I live in San Mateo and am looking to install a Clifford G5 AvantGuard 5.1 in my 2006 WRX. Looking for a shop that is has a good balance of price/quality install.

I also had a question about the remote start.

Does the 2006 WRX have the immobilizer that requires a bypass unit or whatever its called so that I'll be able to use the remote start function?

If its required... Whats the correct unit and where can I buy it online.

So far the only shop I looked at was Vision in SF (Got my haircut up the street and had parked in front of the store). They said in the range of $250-350. $250 for the labor and the additional $100 for the bypass unit if its required; they weren't sure either if its required or not.

TIA guys!!!!

Victor C.

Beware it you use the remote start on a manual transmission car. Ive heard too many careless accidents about those (running into a wall, car etc..)

Speedzone in San Francisco, ask fro Raymond...He is a certified Clifford DEI installer. Also he does dealer jobs also with Grace Honda and Menlo Honda. No cut a tape jobs there...there quality is top notch along with their prices!

Really? I use to have a civic with remote start and whenever I tried to remote start it while it was in gear, It wouldn't. Like some safety mechanism or something. I dunno I didn't install it.

Thanks for all the referrals and tips guys!

Yea hopefully I'll be able to have that safety feature sammae01 mentioned. Thru searching etc it sounds like there is a module or something that prevents remote starting a car when its still in gear.

I'll start calling these places and hopefully get some quotes.
