Buy the bike (as they hold their value well), or go to citi.com or ingdirect.com and start a savings account

Yeah i get where your coming from, but if you put in a CD you are actually making the bank money, so they dont mind, and ive never had to beg a teller to give me MY scrilla scratch papers. Maybe its different in Danville? haha.

Smitty this should be a no brainer. Save it, but bank it. Since you're gone, you might as well get the interest off your money that you can't use.

Must be. They always groan over me pulling anything over a couple G's out. Infact, there was a guy recently that had his bank account closed on him without him knowing because he withdrew 5000 or so. They assumed it was for some terrorist plot. It ended up being spent at JCPennys.

if you have cleared funds banks don't hold onto your money

I took out $14K to buy my truck a while back without questions, then took out $6K to pay off the rest of my WRX's loan a little while later.

never got questioned by the bank about why I was pulling money out or anything like that.

Werd. IF you want your money from a bank, you simply need to go in and withdraw it

I transfer around thousands all the time

Some banks are stingy with giving out cash. I used to cut $100K checks daily but if somone came in wanting $3K cash....that was a different story. If you need cash, just call a few days ahead so the branch can have time to prepare it and have some left for other customers.

Then you're also dealing with all of the paper work that comes along with it, too. Maybe it's just me, but I'd much rather control my own funds. That's how I was raised, call it old fashioned. Everything I have bought is payed in full with cash.

Werd? I guess it depends on the bank. Larger banks should have lots of cash on reserve. My dad used to make 10k+ cash withdrawls all the time (when he ran a warehouse/shipping business)

some banks have cash on reserve but they only have so much

we deal with hundred of thousands (parents own check cashing places) and sometimes they do not have enough cash for us...it usually works out though between multiple local branches
