BAIC opinion: Upgrade car, buy a bike, or save?

Okay people, I've come to some crossroads and I want the BAIC's opinions, please. I'll be leaving for 2 years on a mission in about 3 months. My car is going to be sitting garaged the entire time. I have at least $3000 to burn before then. (Actually more like 6+ but I'm saying 3 or else I will blow it all.) My mission is pretty much paid for. Oh, and no bills for me to worry about whatsoever, such as car payments. (Sorry for anyone that tried to call me, I dropped my phone service last week).

Option #1: I'd really like to buy a 600cc sport bike and ride it for a few months while the weather is still good and then sell it before I go. I'd most likely get most of my money back out of it, but it may be harder to sell because it will be wintertime.

Option #2: I could instead, drop the money into my car. I will not recoup the money back out of it because it will most likely be on a turbo kit, suspension, ANOTHER set of rims, or something rather, and I'm not going to take the time to pull it back out in a few months. And in a few years the stuff won't be worth anything either. I put my car up for sale already but I'm not gonna get isht for the mods already in it, so I will not sell it before I leave (that was at one time an option). My car is prepped for bigger mods...here's most of what I have in my 03 WRX wagoon:

bellmouth downpipe (catless)
Vishnu 321 uppipe
custom bent straight pipes
Accessport (protuned)

v. Vl STi type RA gears (standard edition, cryo treated)
ACT Streetlite fly
Exedy organic sport clutch

Eibach Pro kit
rear sway
steering rack bushings (along with alot of other little tidbits here and there)

Stock brakes are maxed out.

Option #3: I could let the money sit, and save it. I don't believe in gambling with stocks and bonds. So the money would be literally sitting. But I would have something to play around with when I get back (as would be the case in option #1).

What would you do?

sell the car and let the money sit....no matter what you get its gonna depreciate so its not really worth buying another car or bike

I see your point Zoeb and that's what I tried. I did have my car up fs but kept getting lowballed. I'd rather let it sit for 2 years and come back to a car that's already modded than sell it for waay under what I have in it. And I'm not about to part it out.

Oh, and I don't do the banking thing.

Just basic beliefs and what I grew up with. Does the Depression ring a bell, Paul? It's my money and I want it where I can get my hands on it. Not where I haveto go beg for them to allow me to withdraw my own money.

That's kinda what I'm leaning towards. If I mod the car, I'll be putting all my eggs in one basket, and if it breaks (which it's more likely to do if it's modded) I'm stuck. A bike I should be able to sell in a few months and not lose too much on.

Still open to more opinions.

I say just sit on the money. When you come back you can use the money to buy the latest mods or you can decide to use it for other reasons.

Of course the bike does sound nice, that's what I did last Feb. I bought an 02 F4i. I'm guessing that you already have your license and have ridden before, if you have never ridden before or don't have your license just put the spending on hold till you get back.

Do neither. Disperse the money equally between all members of BAIC.
