BAIC: Help! weird noise from engine.
ok this started when i bought this 04 accessport and installed it, only to find out that 04 and 05 is not compatable. anyways, the car developed a puffing sound that sounds like an exhaust leak, but not like the leak you get between the dp and cb. everyhitng was recently installed with new oem crush gaskets like 5 days ago with no problems or leaks to speak of. Im running an oem sti up, cobb catless dp and cobb exhaust, and everything was doing well until today. car hit boost. ill start it up again to see if i can locate the sound, but its scary because it doesnt sound like its coming from the dp to cb like it most commonly does. please help if you know whats goin on, ive already listened to the rod knock video and it doesnt sound like that. my car only has 23k on it, this would be ridiculous for it to break already. TIA.
edit: ive isolated the sound to the right front of the car, and it does sound like a exhaust leak. hopefully its just leaking the uppipe gasket. the vitals of the car are stable and even sounds normal at idle. im just super freaked out about it. im gonna try to get a video up in case anyone can diagnose.

our cars are usually pretty noisey from the factory. what oil are you running.
with the temp changing you might be running to thick of an oil.
i know i was running 10w40 and my car hated it during the winter. i switched to 5w30 and it ran soo much smoother. just a thought

Tough to say from the video. It could be a gasket pre-turbo, but it also almost sounds like a spun bearing. Lets hope for the gasket

^thats what i was thinking. we can only pray. i gotta get in touch with speedelement. are they not open today? no ones answering...
Given that your engine is young and only exhaust mods - I still stick with header to uppipe gasket. Why don't you just see if they are torqued to proper spec prior to taking to a shop? It's free to inspect it yourself. If that doesn't solve it, you should get another gaskets (both ends of uppipe) and redo the install. Hand torque the both ends 1st, torque the header to uppipe to proper spec 2nd, then uppipe to turbo 3rd.
