my segenal parrot could talk pretty well and don't need as much attention as African Grey. African Grey could live 50+ years and Segenal parrot could live 30+ years

I had a blue front amazon parrot from age 4 to 18 when I moved out. after my dad passed away at age 11 the bird and I hung out a lot. It became very attached and jealous. it actually tried to attack my now fiance after seeing her come over a few times and linked her coming over with me ditching the poor bird.
It's a life long commitment, just like marriage(at least supposed to be). If you can't commit to something like this, get yourself a cat. Birds can be great friends, but they are not pets.

Stick with a Cockatiel they can be trained to speak a few words if you are patient, they are also relatively low maintenance and if they bite won't rip your finger off, they also won't rip your furniture to shreds just for giggles. I had a great cockatiel that had about 10 words in it's vocabulary, could mimmick the dish washer, vacuum, dog, and a few other things, but my ex took her.
I've had a few large birds in my time, but either get fed up with them or something bad happened. I had a sulphur crested cockatoo that got in a battle with a cat and the fight came out a draw, but the bird got an infection and after $2k at the vet still ended up dying. He was a great bird, really talkative(almost too much) and very friendly. I recently got rid of a 25 year old hyacinth macaw because that bastard was pure evil, ripped everything to pieces just because he could, and had a nasty tendency to bite if you did something he didn't like, and I mean out of nowhere. He was just walking around on the back of the couch one day and I moved a little too fast for him, so let out a huge screech and ripped a big tuft of hair out of my head. Sold his nasty **** pretty quick after that one. I think his former owners didn't pay much attention to him, so he turned to the dark side.
As was said, large birds are a lifetime commitment, more so than a wife. My mom has pink crested cockatoo that is about 35 years old and as lively as ever. They require a lot of care and attention, almost as much as a kid. Think pretty hard before you get one, also prepare for some healthy up front expenses when buying one.
